I purchased a data cable from eBay for my v300 and I'm trying to install the USB drivers without much luck.
The instructions that came with the cable say to plug the cable in, wait the new hardware wizard to launch, and point to the location of the driver. On my laptop (Windows XP Pro Srvc Pack 2) when I plug the USB cable in the new hardware wizard does not launch and when I run the new hardware wizard manually it does not find any hardware to add.
I've also tried installing MPT v3 and it keeps failing when telling me to insert a CD to load a file called WidComm.dll.
Any ideas? I've sent a request to the company which sold me the cable asking how to install there driver when the new hardware wizard doesn't launch but haven't heard anything from them.

I did start with the suggested thread and searched the forum with no results regarding issues with installing the USB driver.
I insatlled MotoXP2Kman and was able to adjust the gain on my earpiece which is what I really needed to do.
Why does P2kman work if the USB drivers have not been installed?
I have searched the internet for the USB drivers for a v300 but I'm still not prompted to install them. The cable I have is a charger as well (which I really need right now) but I assume this function is not working due to the drivers not being installed.
Any ideas?

MPT uses different drivers to the p2k programs.
The charger problem is due to the driver problem.
There is a guide to installing MPT here http://www.ic.sunysb.edu/Stu/cdigiamo/tutorial/v220/tut.html
Also refer to this guide which is really for the V3 but p2k phones all basically use the same method: http://www.themotoguide.com/

It won't charge if you are running the programs - close the programs, unplug the phone, plug it back in and see if it charges then.
