You may often find you need to perform SEEM edits.
This guide will show you how to do this step by step.
Lets assume you want to change SMS storage from sim card to phone, from the SEEM MAP (http://www.xlr8.us/hofo/map.txt) you get:
SEEM 0032_0001 offset 40 - bit 6: SMS storage (0 for phone, 1 for SIM)
1) Get the SEEM from the Phone.
SEEM 0032_0001 means seem number 0032, record number 0001. So we need to get SEEM 0032 from the phone. Start P2kman, above the Download Seem box enter 0032 in both the from and to box.
Hit the Download Seem box. Choose a location to save in, leave the file name as xxxx_yyyy.seem. Hit save.
Make a copy of this file before proceeding to step 2 as a backup in case you get it wrong or has an unexpected result.
2) Edit the Seem. Open 10's Seem Changer program (Download the install program from: http://rapidshare.de/files/14663179/Seem_Changer.msi.html)
Hit Select file. Browse to the location you just saved the SEEM to. Click on the file with the correct Seem number (0032 in this case) at the start and the correct record number (here 0001) at the end. Click on Open
Enter the required offset in the offset box (in this case 40). You can hit "read offset" if you want to see the existing value - but that isn't strictly necessary.
This time we are editing a bit (bit 6) So choose bit 6 from the dropdown box. And we want to set it to 0 (for phone storage) so choose 0 from the state box. Sometimes you will need to change a value rather than a bit - in that case you would enter a value in the value box instead of choosing a bit and a state.
Hit the Set Bit button - or in the case of a value change Set Value. Close the program
3) Put the modified SEEM on the Phone.
Enter the Seem and record number in the boxes above the Upload Seem button in p2kman
Hit the Upload Seem button, browse to the modified file and hit open. When you see an ok message in the message area at the bottom of p2kman, restart the phone.
Good Job! 
*NOTE* You can also use the seem changer program for the gain_table.bin file. Use the Phone>>>PC button in place of step 1. In step 2 when selecting the file use the drop down box to change the file type. In step 3 use the PC>>>Phone button.

One suggestion:
In the Directory where P2KMan has been installed
I suggest you create a Folder & name it "Original Seems"
so you can save your downloaded seems from the
phone to that folder .. that way it will be Very Easy
to remember and find the Original Unmodified Seem
if you need to restore it

ah thanks, I've been wondering how to heck do I edit/upload seems for quite some time. Good tutorials on both links! I'll try it out as soon as my dead phone is done charging.

There is actually a new Seem changer prog which is even easier - the p2k functions are fully integrated - get it here:

ok well i dled the new seem changer...
but i still am very confused about the p2k phone file manager as in screen shot 1.... my p2ktools looks different...
do i have a diff version of p2k?

p2k tools and p2k file manager are different programs
But you don't need them with the latest seem changer - it will connect to the phone directly

ok do you know of a tutorial on how to change msgs saved to sim to phone? with the new seem changer.
it doesnt have to be to detailed just like one with a quick tutorial on how to use it

I only wrote the program yesterday - so haven't had time yet.
However
Assuming you have the p2k drivers installed
Connect the phone to USB
Run the program
Enter the seem location (0032) the rec location (0001)
Then enter the offset (40), choose the bit (6) from the drop down box and select 0 or 1 as above (choose 0 in your case). Then click Set bit
Close the program
