Yea if you under a business acct (or a fan acct) sometimes you have the ability to do different stuff, as well as get different plans and diff prices on phones.

I migrated from AT&T in June '05. I had a deal with AT&T that I'd get a new phone once a year. I've had the same model phone for 3 years now (Nokia 3120) and really want a new phone with a full color screen, camera and other new features. Now, the SYNC is out and I really want that phone. Ugh! The company I work for has Cingular and I get the 2% discount. What is a fan acct?

a fan is Foundation Account Number which is a number that recognizes the fact that a particular account recieves discounts from the idividual's employer. place the order online for the SYNC. it's 49.99 after rebate. the cheapest option.

I'm eligable for an upgrade for my phone. I have been with Cingular for 5 years. The phones they affer in my area is overpriced, outdated technology, or unavailable. I went online 3 weeks ago, when my old Nokia gait phone started rebooting and dropping calls to upgrade my phone. I was told to call customer service, which I did. They tell me I have to go to my nearest Cingular store. Well the store is 45 miles from where I live.
Today, I finally made it to a store. Now, remind you all along for the last 3 weeks I have been dealing with the phone, patiently!
I get to the store, looking at the phones, gave the rep my account info. He said they didn't have any of the free phones available for my phone upgrade. But, I am welcome to purchase a phone!
Based in what I do, I need my phone available 24/7. This is now becoming a huge inconvience, and my account expires in 3 months.
I have been happy with the service and coverage till now. All I want is a new phone, is that too much to ask?
I have learned, that the Gait technology is being phased out. They will be charging me five dollars a month on my account if I do not upgrade. But, they don't have a phone that will work in my area for a free upgrade.
Give me a break!!! Let alone, the store rep, 45 miles from my house was rude, and very unhelpful.
Where do I go now?
Customer service says keep checking back, maybe they will update their site. I have been watching it for 3 weeks, the only addition is 2 3G phones.
I should have bought the Blackberry when it was $79.95!
Who do I contact to get a new phone?

The website says I have to wait until March to upgrade. Should I call Cingular and tell them I have a FAN acct and see what they can do for me? icon_confused.gif

This is to multiple people (i'm to tired to quote each person seperately)!

If you have a GAIT phone, your automatically eligible for an upgrade, provided that is the phone listed on your account.

When you call to get a phone (even if it's not a gait phone) ask them to check the VIP tool. That lists any special offers available to you. There are free phones available online (and sometimes through telesales). If you call customer service, ask them to transfer you to telesales (or pick the option during the automated steps).

We have the SYNC in my store for 49.99 too.. I thought it was a nationwide price with the advertising going on for it.

When he told you to purchase a phone, he was probably talking about purchasing it for the 2 yr price. If you really do need your phone to be available 24/7, then suck it up and buy a decent phone, you'll be better off in the long run.

if you're phone was originally with ATT wireless, you can upgrade at any time. is your phone branded ATT wireless? if so, call customer care about an upgrade. I don't know if business accounts have different rules for upgrading, but you can always call and ask, if you do have a FAN.

collione..we never know what stores have it offered for (ours our different for blue upgrades) they show current phone pricing in CSP, but rarely update it. they just updated the puerto rico solution and it lists krzr/8525/treo 680 pricing

"FAN" actually stands for "Federal Account Number" according to the Cingular Rep I talked to on the phone. I got to my company's business store online with my email address and was able to order the SYNC for $49.99 w/ $18 upgrade fee, no rebate to wait for. I had the option to knock $25 off the bill if I signed up for a $39.99+ voice plan, so I did. Total came to $47.XX. WooHoo! The Customer Service Rep I talked to was very nice BTW! And I was only on hold for literally 10 seconds. Cingular RULES!
