This may be a rehash for those non-noobs, but I thought it would be helpful for frustrated v276 users to read.
Well, after reading all the suggestions on these boards and others, I have concluded that getting into the v276 requires 2 tools. Firstly, Mobile Phone Tools works great for Contacts/Calendar. Obviously, the Multimedia button is locked out (Thanks Verizon!). To get pics/audio files back and forth, I found that Bitpim works best, but I can only use the filesystem feature. The rest of the features don't seem to work. All said and done, it was a free phone, so if I have to use a couple of tools to get around the freaking lockout, so be it! I just thought this would be helpful for noobs, like me, who may have just gotten the dang thing. Now that I can utilize the features of the phone, it ain't so bad afterall! BTW, PST worked flawlessly, but I don't know if I have a lot of use for it.
For MPTools, I just set the phone as a v265. Setting it to v265m enables the multimedia button, but nothing works. For BITPIM, I just set up the COM port manually and used Other CDMA phone as type. Kudos to the BitPim devs!
On another note, for custom ringtones, I use Audacity to convert MP3 to wav and save as mono 16 or 32 bit, both work. Then convert wav to qcp with Purevoice, rename as a mid and upload to phone.
Although emailing the file to my phone works flawlessly, with the option to set as ringtone, now with BitPim, I can upload the file to the filesystem, but it only shows up in on the PC's tree, not the phone ( when I browse the sound files). I have tried deleting the mytone.db as suggested elsewhere, but still no luck. Am I missing something?

For some reason, now the /motorola/shared/pictures folder is empty. Definitely not according to the phone! Whereas I was able to copy pics from it before, now it is blank in Bitpim!
I hate this phone again

Now I have found success again. Man, this is going to make me neurotic!
This time, I am using PST to suspend the phone, leaving it open and then running P2KTools2. (I saw this somewhere, but I can't find the link to give credit where it is due.) I can successfully retrieve pics and upload sound files, and see them on the phone. BUT, the .mid (qcp) files end up as static, wheras when I email the exact same file, it works fine as a ringtone.
I wonder if the file is getting corrupted on the upload, so I need to run a few experiments.

I recently purchased a MOT V60 cable for my Motorola v276 phone, and I'm trying to use tools (pretty much any tools at this point) to work with my phone to replace/add/modify...well, pretty much any part of it.
Any help or support would be appreciated. I've tried all teh above methods, and the biggest issue is that my computer won't recognize my phone as a legitimate device/not on my COM port.

Alphasee...
Well, you first need to get it to work with Motorola Phone Tools, I believe. If you install it, it should recognize the phone upon insertion. Otherwise, I think maybe your cable could be the issue. Do you get any prompts from windows when you plug it in?
BTW... once you get this going , see my other thread:

I will try and help you out as much as I can.

I did, until I installed the moto tools. Now it poops out on me, and nothing shows up. The automatic detection tool doesn't even work anymore with mototools. Im going to try and uninstall it, and see if I can get it to work from there.

Uninstall everything. Then get the USB drivers:
http://www.motomodding.com/vault/software/drivers/P2K_Drivers.rar
Unplug phone from USB.
Extract that to C:\windows\system32\drivers dir.
Restart PC.
Plug phone in and see what happens.
Install MPT, PST, and finally P2Ktools.
