t-mobile used to unlock other cellular providers telephone, however now, we only unlock phones that are t-mobile branded and you must have an active account with us. cingular does the same thing now too unlocking only cingular branded handset for existing customers. i personally beleive this had something to do with the launch of the motorola v3. never before was a phone wanted so badly by so many people.
