I don't think having the Motorola V180 is having an edge in the competition. That's like saying, "Nice sword, but my plastic McDonald's SPORK is so much better!"

i am with optus pre-paid in australia i pay $30 per month for $120 worth of creidit or $50 for $250 worth of credit but it cost me 74c per minute to call within my country 25c per txt msg or 35c to txt international how does that stack up to your US deals

Anyone who says Canada is ahead is smoking. I think were just about to catch up and maybe pass the States for a little while with the V3i launch but other then that, the States have much more then us.

The US has a few geographical issues that many of the European countries don't have to deal with, large amounts of land with little to no population. Find a cheap way to cover that and we may get a few more service companies that can keep up with the big guys and drive prices down a little more. Although you can attempt to start a vMVNO and try to show the big companies how it is done. . .

also it's all set up messed up like the fcc only licence a certain number of companies to run the towers in any given city/area used to be 3 so yeah the roaming etc. but hey have you ever seen what a landline call costs still in england? it's like 5 pence a minute for a local phone call. so in some places we are lucky.
