Hi everyone I have a Vc3 Razr and I was just installing the moble phone tools software and it won't detect my phone. It just says the software won't work properly if it can't detect my phone, I've tired it about 5 times and always the same message, the bar goes all the way across but it never does anything different, can someone help me out?

Did you buy the Mobile phone tools, if not you need the drivers for it. Try this
http://forums.mobiledia.com/cgi-bin/redirect.cgi?http://www.motomoddin g.com/vault/software/drivers/P2K_Drivers.rar
Those are pretty much the drivers needed for your PC too detect your phone for any phone software you use.
Instructions:
Unpack and place them in the c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\ folder, then connect your phone to your computer via mini USB cable. Windows will popup, point everything to this directory.

Are you using the latest version of Motorola Phone Tools? If not, you need to update it.

are you using BT or cable?
try:
make sure you have the motorola handset driver installed (this is with the mPT program {a blue box})
when the program is searching for your phone... switch the phone off/on again so it will recognise the modem.
goto your device manager with the cable plugged in an select update driver... do NOT let windows install it.. instead select to install from your own location, and goto you mPT folder (usually in your C/Programs drive) and select the driver from there.

I was reading another thread on this site and someone else was having the same issues I am with getting the connection between my vc3 and pc working properly. I've downloaded the latest Tools and I tried the drivers in the response for the thread and still nothin. I'm using a USB cable, and the phone and pc both know that something's going on, they're just confused. Any help would be appriciated.

I had the same problem on my motorola V3xx, i rushed the driver install and then could not get the phone tools to detect my phone. After ringing motorola and getting no where at all i finally fixed the problem myself.
Plug the phone into the usb and turn it on. Go to control panel in windows. Click on add hardware, let the wizard find all devices that currently have no drivers installed. When asks if you have already connected the device to the computer click yes. The wizard then asked were i wanted to find the driver. I put the motorola cd in and clicked ok.
This loaded the driver properly and it fixed the problem.
Phone tools now works without any errors.
This may fix your problem so give it a try.
Cheers
