I am an self acknowledged newbie, and have searched most of the afternoon for an answer, so I appologize if I am asking something already answered. I have an LG VX8100, a 1.0g memory card which I formatted with my phone, and loaded a ton of mp3s onto (and a mpeg 4 movie rip from a DVD- which I can't find where to play it from, but that's another problem). I can get to the mp3s and play them from the interior button, and then can control them from the outside, but why do I have to go thru the Menu>left>left>get tunes & tones>My MP3s to get them to play? When I hit the outside play button (hold it down actually), I get a tone and message "NO SONGS FOUND". Please help if you can, I would appreciate it. And if you can tell me how to play the movie, I would be grateful as well.

Sounds like your VX8100 is running Version 07 of the phone's software. I have no issues in running either from the phone's MENU or the front BUTTONS running Version 04 (and do not intend to upgrade).
Since Version 07 changes the playing to include WMA files, it is necessary to access the Service Menu to re-enable MP3 capability. You can find information on how to do that on the Howard Forum. I don't recall whether re-enabling the MP3's from the Service Menu also enables the front buttons.

Ok, figured the mp3 question out myself, and here it is sportsfans in case you are curious...
menu->right->right->TOOLS->Shortcut Key->Play Key-> THEN you choose either My V CAST Music or My MP3s
Not sure what version I am running, or how to find out, but that option wasnt there before I went into the service menu and re-enabled mp3's.
Just thought you would like to know.

I am pretty sure that the way to get it to work would be:
1. Open the menu USING THE OK BUTTON.
2. Press 0 (zero) 7 times, bringing you to the service menu.
3. Go to the menu option that says "Mp3 Enable" (I think that it is the last one).
4. Click the menu option "Mp3 Enable." Then click "yes" or "on."
THEN.
1. Go to menu.
2. Go to settings and tools.
3. Scroll down to, and click "Phone Settings."
4. Scroll down to and click "Shortcut Key."
The play button should appear under the shortcut key menu. Set the play button to mp3.NOT VCast.
Hope I Could Help.
