 Ok .. I'm a n00b here in regards to Flashing of Samsung phones, however, you ask me anything in regards to Motorola phones, and I'm a wizz .. here is my problem.
I have a Samsung E316 phone (that is my wife's phone), I migrated recently from AT&T (Cingular Blue) over to Cingular Orange .. had to obtain new phones in which my wife hates her new phone with a passion (LG C2000) .. she wants her E316 back. Now I spent $25.00 down the road and got the phone unlocked .. I put my wifes SIM card in the phone, sure enough, it will receive calls, but will not make calls !!!
So .. what I need to know:
1. What is the latest firmware out there for this phone ?
2. Where can I download it from ?
3. What software is needed to apply the firmware to the phone?
4. How can I get this up and fully functional with Cingular ?

be careful when you flash your phone, follow every step & be sure to back up your phone's original firmware.
i have a samsung e316 firmware i don't know if its unlock or not but if you need i can send it to you.

I have read it back and forth .. including Part 2.
How do I find out what firmware version is already on the phone at this time ?
I know that Samsung phones are full of access codes to do certain functions and finding out information .. so I need the one for the E316.
What is the firmware version of the one you have ? Is it the latest for that model ? and will it work with Cingular, or do I need to tweak it ?

press *#9998*4357# for a list of codes: and from the list of codes
then press *#9998*----# where the # is the code number from the menu.

Ok .. so the information is as follows:
SW Version shows E316UEDG3
Now, another problem I am having, I have a USB data cable in which drivers are installed, however, OptiFlash 3.7.0.1 does not recognize USB !!!
So this time .. 3 questions:
1. Is the SW Version the latest for this phone ?
2. How can I get OptiFlash to work ?
3. How to configure phone for Cingular ?
