Ok, so I started with ATT, but when ATT got bought by Cingular, I became the bastard child of phone plans... couldn't get a new phone... couldn't get anything because I was "not Cingular" but when I wanted to sign up for a new Cingular plan, I didn't get the "new member" sign up price because I wasn't a "new member" since I was part of ATT... It's kinda funny how Cingular uses the "You're not Cingular" when it helps them and "You are Cingular"...when it helps them again.

Anyways, I said f-them and, since I work for Geek Squad, I got a discount on Verizon wireless... everyone gave it good reviews and such. And to be honest, it is good service... I always have bars (more than I can say for ATT) and they pick up the phones (more than I can say for ATT).

The problem is, I have 2 of my own companies, plus work at GS, plus work with a few of the largest companies in th US who like to call me alot and I have alot of business stuff and calendar what nots... so I went with the Treo 650.

I read all the reviews (positive and negative) and since all the negative were written before the revamp of the phone, I figured it would be ok (and it was for those errors which were software... haven't had those).

My problem is the keyboard on the Treo 650.

I bought my Treo 650 when I signed up, got it home, opened it, and there were a couple buttons on the keypad that were stuck. They would still function, however, they did not push like the other keys.

Needless to say for the few hundred I paid for this phone, it was not acceptable. Plus, for comparison, it would be like having some keys on your keyboard be rock hard and not push.

Granted, they still worked, but it would cause several letters to be typed instead of 1 when the key was hit.

I brought it back and they exchanged it, got the new one, and it was ok for a couple months.

Next thing I know, the 'p' key had the same problem. It would function but not press. Soon it started to enter multiple peys when touched or even when letters around it were typed.

So, I called up, they sent me a replacement, I sent mine back.

Within a week, the 'p' key on this one started to have the SAME exact problem as the other one... its insane. I don't type alot of P's... or jab it or anything... but it did it again.

I got really busy with business and just recently had time to start with getting an exchanged phone. But the thing is... I started to wonder if there was a way to get a different phone. Why should I have to keep putting up with the same shit from the same type of phone?

I started talking to some verizon reps and.. sadly... they are all idiots. And I say that confidently because every prior rep I spoke I was told was wrong by the next verizon rep. It seems like no one in that company has any clue how their company works.

Finally, I vented on my co-worker at GS and he told me of an old GS tech that now works for Verizon and he might be able to help me, so I called him and he told me about a policy that verizon does not tell the public and if you do a warranty exchange 3 times he thought you get a voucher or something to that effect.

So, I called up verizon and talked to a guy named Kevin, who I thought at the time was not an idiot (but later, once again, I was told by another verizon employee Kevin was "misinformed").

I talked to Kevin and he was very nice and said he would put a note in my file for the people at Verizon so they can check my account and see that I can indeed get a different type of phone. Kevin then said he'd put me on hold so I could talk to one of the managers.

I wait on hold for 15 minutes and then I talk to Leif who asks me to explain whats going on. I explain to him verbatim what I've told all the other verizon reps below him--including every metaphor, laugh, and story--and, once again, to prove even more that there is no standard of knowledge among Verizon employees, he gives me a different answer.

He tells me that Kevin was misinformed at that after 3 returns of the phone (im on my second) I can get a brand new one from a verizon store... but it has to be another Treo 650. I told him that I had already had 2 new treo 650s and they both failed on me... his words to me:

Sir, you chose to sign the contract.

Ah yes, my mistake, I forgot that in this world it is impossible to trust a large corporation to actually care about the problems their products are giving you and the possible monetary losses one may have due to these problems... but obviously I'm in the wrong because I "chose to sign the contract".

===========

Anyways, that is my story... the reason i have chosen to come to this forum and tell my story is to ask if anyone here knows a way to help me. I already lost one client by missing his calls due to a palm glitch (the one I'm sending back now was rejecting calls and no Verizon tech knew why), and now it looks like for the next 2 years until I can go to a company that actually cares about me (I doubt that exists), I will be eternally exchanging Treo 650s.

Is there anyone here that can help? Tell me what to do? Who to talk to?

There are always ways around "policy". I would love to find a Verizon rep that is actually helpful instead of lying to me like the past dozen have done.

Within the past 3 days I've had to miss 3 corporate meetings and spend over 7 hours either driving between verizon stores chasing a lie, driving back to another store because the guy took my stylus, or talking on the phone.

Please, I'm seriously begging someone that is reading this to give me some help. I'm at my wit's end (and I had not idea what a wit's end was until now because I'm on the brink of having a mental snap because of all these people and policies).

Help.... Please.

well, I'm not a verizon rep (i'm a cingular rep). awhile back, the contract terms dictated the eligibility for upgrade with cingular. this is not the case anymore, as all "former ATTW customers" are eligible for upgrades.

besides that. it may be worth your while to pay the cancellation fee and find someone who is reliable for you as staying with verizon may cause you greater financial loss in the end. If you end up having to buy another phone outright from verizon, might as well buy one from somebody else.

if you're thinking about this, check out the cingular 8125. runs windows mobile 5.0 and has a lot of great features. and the keyboard is really nice. you can read a good review of it here

http://www.mobiletechreview.com/cingular-8125.htm

and it's a good price for new customers. as for solution with verizon themselves, i have none.

The only way for you to get a make and model of phone is to exchange your phone 3 times. after the third replacement acts up then you get a new make and model phone or comparable value. VZW REP!!!

If you are to make fun of people as well as caps and bold said phrase, it would behoove you to spell competent correctly as the failure to do so undermines your point at its very heart.

ericwest- I am not a rep but will tell you, as an ATT/ Cingular rollover victim, that the best way to get your problem resolved to your satisfaction, is contact the Better Business Bureau. They fly right past those idiots you and I have to deal with, and enter the upper offices where people can actually make decisions. They got me out of my contract and I got an apology as well. You can find them on the web- try googling better business bureau. Good luck. sm
