So, it has been over a week, and I still have no service in Edinboro, PA. I swtiched from Verizon to T-Mobile because Verizon was to expensive and I was disappointed at their phone options. Also, no SIM cards were starting to get to me. So I did some research, and T-Mobile was suppose to have GREAT service where I am (in college).
Well, when I finally got off of spring break, I went back to school to find NO SERVICE. Instead, it was just emergency only. I put my girlfriends Cingular SIM card into my phone, and instantly it picked up on Cellular One's towers and she had full service. As it turns out, T-Mobiles free Roaming is only to people they see fit, not any tower as they would lead you to believe.
What this comes down to is this. I'm just one person in a rural town in college. I want to know how many more people out there are having the same problem. Where T-Mobile says you should have great service and you have none. I'm sure there are more out there.

I did that, and since they don't have a deal with Cellular One, they said that I won't be able to stay on their towers. That is the only other availiable tower (becides cingular which knocks me off also) out here.

When you sing up for t mobile theres a map that tells you where they have service, where they have bad serive and good service. did you look on the map to see what catagorey your college fell in before you switched??

I know I should, it's number 3 on the list of towers, but it always switches back to T-Mobile. They're excuse was that since T-Mobile SHOULD have service where I am, I'm not going to be able to roam. I say its BS, because the fact of the matter is i DONT have service, and it still doesnt let me.

did that and it always led to the same responce. We'll send somebody out to check the area. But it always comes back to the same conclusion. There is nothing wrong with the tower. Well, we are 5 miles away from the tower, come check the town!

First thing I suspect is that your SIM card is damaged or incomplete. Take your phone to the retail center in Erie, Pa 12 miles north of you. Ask them to switch your SIM card with a new one or ask for a rep to come out to your location with a phone to verify service. T-Mobile's tower is functional in your town because you are receiving the tower information, but I don't think your phone has the proper info in the card to allow it to have the proper service. A SIM card switch should do the trick. Let us know.
