it doesn't matter if the sim card is in or out. it won't do anyting to the sim card nor damage the phone if you leave the sim card in while flashing. I have accidently forgot to take the sim card out when I flash my phone and when it's done i turn it on nuthing happens to the sim card nor the phone so it's safe

often after ive flashed my fone it when i turn it back on decides to send a message and half the times it fails. it does it regardless of firmware ver (even my own). is there any reason why it does this or is my fone stuffed?
also when i try to use the imei changer prog it tends to crash when i tell it to read from the phone any suggestions?

Sounds like either your cable is not recognizing properly or you have your settings mixed up. Try checking them. Otherwise, I'd say you should try a different cable if one is available to you.
