i have a v3 and i just can't get it to connect to the pc. it worked fine at first, for about 3 days, but then nothing. i reinstalled mpt and all the drivers, etc...but still nothing. i even used system restore, but without luck. now the pc doesn't "see" the phone at all, no matter what software i use: mpt, p2k... any suggestions? (besides going back to my gud old siemens??)
1. Goto My computer
2. select Control Panel
3. select system
4. select device tab
5. look for "Storage Devices" or USB device
6. See if there is a Yellow Exclamation point next to the device
6a. If you see yellow exclamation point click on it then select REMOVE then goto step 7
6b. If you do not see a yellow exclamation point click on device and select update driver
7. Install new driver you donloaded from http://www.free-codecs.com/index.htm
Restart computer and you should be good to go.

thx, but...i can't find those drivers you mentioned. plus, now i have gone back to win2000, a fresh install. now, it won't even detect the phone as "new hardware"...nothing happens when i plug it in. so, i'm guessing that the cable is probably broken. i'll be sure of this in a few days, when i'll plug it into a friend's computer.

Go to device manager--> hardware--> modem llok to see if you have motorola USB modem if so right click to ptoperty--> update drive--> choose secific location then point to it . Sample C:\ program\ mpt \inf. now it should work.
If you got stcuk at initialize process then wait till it's done or hit cancel . you should see now a pic of a fone on your desk top, click on menu icon-> setup-> F6 general setup-> comunication--> modem exchange--> on your left choose motorola GSM on your right look for your fone model click finish now it's should go thru the detec and initializ process and it's should work.
