as with any wireless provider... look at how many minutes you will be using during the peak periods...that is the key to any rate plan with any carrier...compare at the same price point with others... simple comparison...

cingular

39.99 Nation 450... 450 peak unlimited MtM and 5000 N&W... the peak airtime has rollover all with national roaming and LD included

T Mobile

39.99 2 options

Get More 600 Unlimited N&W Unlimited MtM

Get More 1000 1000 N&W None MTM None $39.99

both have national roaming

as you can see... the cingular has less minutes but your unused minutes rollover to the next month... on tmobile you do get more... but the unused minutes fall off the end of the earth at the end of the billing cycle

tmobiles coverage in an urban setting is fair to good...suburban poor to fair in some cases....(tmobile is 1900 MHZ only)

Cingulars coverage east coast central and southwest is good to very good...on the west coast can range from fair to poor to very good... recent heavy rain, landslides, and forest fires have damaged some local networks extensively (cingular is 850 and 1900 MHZ)

so what it boils down to is coverage ...price and how much you use the phone in the daytime

The service provider depends on your needs. T-mobile has very good plans that include nationwide plans and area wide plans. You get the most whenever minutes for your buck. However, I personally beleive that Cingular plans are over priced because of the roll over minutes, but who needs roll over if you don't have anything to roll over? Not only that, T-mobile has won the JD Power and Associates award 3 years in a row. We have excellent customer service and we are always willing to go the extra mile for our customers. In conclusion, if you use your phone for emergencies only, want second rate customer service, and want to be over charged, I would go with Cingular.

Agreed, but one thing to add. Tmobile is native 1900 only but roams in 850 in many places.

Also look at texting if you do that. Cingular charges for incoming texts where T-Mobile does not.
