First Off, I am a Rogers CSR.
And I would like to Verify that yes, When you are in Certain Northern Parts of the US you will See Rogers on your Cell phone. The reason being is our Coverage Rings from our Towers Overlap the Boarder. For this reason we have whats known as the ''Buffer zone'' Which Rogers, along with US wireless companies (Sprint, Cingular, T-Mobile) Have agreed not to charge Roaming while in these Areas. In the Event that you do See Rogers roaming on your Cell phone Call Your Service provider and say
''On my bill, Page X i see roaming charges. I was not in Canada, So Is there any possible way it could of been Accidental Roaming?'' The CSR will look at there KMT and report back that
"Our Apologies, We have a agreement with rogers that alows us to offer the best North American Coverage possible, For this reason we will credit back the Roaming charge as accidental roaming. For future refrences I recomend setting your Phone to 'HOME ONLY' to prevent this in the future, unless you intentionlly plan on Roaming"

if it was the first time generally speaking the rep will read a similar script and credit back charges as a 1 time courtesy after that you are on your own.
what you are quoting is a rogers rule not a cingular or tmobile rule.

Btw. about that post about "misidentifying as a cingular". Well there might be a network called "cingular" somewhere else so it will not be misidentyfing. As well as you go to UK and you see T-Mobile on your screen (if you are T-Mo customer) its not misidentyfing. It's roaming on other T-Mobile netowrk :]

or to avoid the charges all together you canjust turn your phones off when you get w/i 10 miles of the border so they never have a chance to register, you have been warned of the possibiliy by reps , and you have had it happen before so you cant say you didnt know , canda doent have the pesky fcc saying how high they can turn up there towers , and theat what alows the signal to cross over the borders

there is only 1 Cingular network in North America.

Ok, I'm sorry. My bad. I just saw Cingular in some Carribean country so I thought it's different but it looks like that one Cingular.

Canada has a division of the CRTC which limits Tower Output due to possible (unproven as of this time) Medical effects. I'm not sure our exact tolerances but i know we range up to 100km from Cell site without Repeaters

are you saying the cel to tower range in Canada is 100km? (60 miles for the non metric types) if so what is the basis of that statement?
