Hey. My name's James, I'm 21, so on so forth. Here's the unfortunate story.
Long story short, my ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend has been calling my cell phone just about every morning around the pre-dawn hours, 5 to 6am my time. He lives in New Jersey, I live around Chicago. The calls have been going on for more than six months now and frankly, I don't know how to deal with them.
I've stopped answering them, but he continues to leave voicemails threatening me and my family, using all types of bigoted and racial slurs, and all-around harassment. Most of them have been from a Restricted number, and apparently cell phones don't use *69 or *57, as my attempts with those two have failed each and every time I've used them over the past half year. The times they haven't been from a Restricted Number, they have been from random 609 area code numbers.
Just earlier this morning around 3:30 AM I received another phonecall that I unfortunately answered thinking it was someone else, this time from who I believe to be another one of my ex's friends, taunting me and saying outrageously obscene things. It eventually devolved into the caller demanding I castrate myself and commit suicide in so many words. It's not the greatest feeling in the world, dealing with this kind of garbage. I want it to end.
All my attempts to put an end to this horse**** have failed, and I'm wondering if anyone on this forum has any ideas as to what I can do.
I use Verizon Wireless, and I was also wondering if, were I to take my phone in to the original store where I purchased it and set up the plan, if they could somehow be able to trace the Restricted numbers that plague my received and missed call lists and have these misanthropes prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Also unfortunately, the harassment has not only been by cell phone. It's also continued for over six months through email, Myspace.com, and AOL Instand Messenger. In the bluntest terms, this sucks.
I'm at the end of my rope here, and I no longer want to deal with this sort predicament. I want it to end and prosecute all of the perpetrators to the fullest extent of the law. I believe, in Illinois, Cyberstalking and Electronic Harassment (or whichever they call it) are Class 3 and Class 4 Felonies.
I can't express what a disappointment it would be to me (in so many words, heh) to see justice not done on these miscreants. Also, I apologize for the length of the post. That's the shortest version possible, heh. Any suggestions?

Did you ever think about having your number changed?

The only way you can get those numbers would be with a subpeona. File a case to the local law enforcement and they may be able to have access to the numbers.
There's plenty other reasons to get even. First and foremost I'd just change your number.
