OK, a brief summary:

Dr. Paul Bach-y-Rita, a University of Wisconsin neuroscientist, has invented the "Brain Port", a device attached to the tongue because he discovered that it is much easier to send signals to the brain through the tongue than through a with electrodes stuffed back.

That way a blind catched a ball and had now problems finding a door and pass it.

Now the military wants to use it. They wanna give their Army Rangers a 360 degree night vision or sonar to their divers.

Currently they achieved that divers can "see" an electronic compass and an electronic depth sensor.
