I Think They Should Just Convert It All To One Network. That Would Be Much Better Than Running Two Separate Ones...

the problem with that is sprint runs on CDMA, and nextel runs on IDen, two different technologies, and two different frequencies. however look for a new phone from motorola in august, or q3 of 2006. its a worldwide, iden, cdma, gsm, and analog phone all rolled into one. moto is designing it just specifically for nextel and sprint. its going to have direct connect, and ready link in one phone, using the appropriate networks for each. unless you don't have coverage for the network. but there is plans to merge the two networks, and right now they are working on building up the towers and coverage on both networks towers. they are installing iden equipment on cdma towers, and vise versa. but keeping with the topic, sprint is bad for nextel, nextel was an industry leader. look at the reports for the last few quarters, and you'll see that nextel did have the highest customer service quality, and also had the lowest churn rate, which for those of you don't know what that is, it is the percentage of customers lost to the amount of customers gained. also still does have the single largest network. now i know what most people will say, you work for them, your biased, i may be, but i will say that many things have changed from pre-merger to post merger, like the price of nextel plans going down, and also the introduction of the fair and flex. maybe thats why last year we were the largest growing company of all cell providers, and second to verizon had the lowest churn ratio, but thats to be expected with sprint's customer care. i hear it daily when someone calls in right after switching from cdma to iden, that we provide a higher quality of service than sprint did.

I'm from a nextel store, before the merger. Almost all of the customers that i dealt with everyday were happy, no problems. Since the merger, it seems like all we have are irate Sprint customers. THere customer service is horrible. I also think the quality in Nextel phones are much better.
