sorry that i've to bring this topic back... it seems that my phone can be quite stubborn sometimes..
After my computer had ran Midway successfully for the 1st time, something weird happened. When I tried again, Midway cannot pick a connection from my phone so i changed the COM# in the Motorola USB Modem manually to another working # (along w/ the Midway settings), so everything was alright... and now for the 3rd time, the phone isn't connecting AGAIN -.- ! So what should I do? Because changing the COM# certainly did not work this time. Is there something wrong with my phone perhaps?

is the computer detecting the phone when you connect the phone to the USB cable?
if not (assuming you are using XP) update your operating system...there is an optional update usb and wirless devices... if you already have it look in your device manager to ensure that USB is configured correctly

If you use a different USB port it may be detected under a different com port. Follow the instructions at http://www.ic.sunysb.edu/Stu/cdigiamo/tutorial/v220/tut.html
to identify the com port from device manager

Midway can be obtained at http://developer.motorola.com/?path=1.2.6.28
Sounds like you are doing something wrong with the seem editing
In any case there is an easier way to enable the app loader now - go to http://developer.motorola.com/?path=1.2.6.30
Download install and run UID, KDWP and JAL Enabler Tool for Motorola OS Products Version 2.0
