The last phone I had was an e715, do you think the "mp3" sound on this phone is better?

the directions are easy it is at the following link
http://www.-edited-/pages/help/helpHow.php
you have to download two programs of freeware one to edit your ringtone although as a suggestion do not make it to long it does not really work very well test it figure out what should work i think 12 to 15 seconds is ample. the other is a mmf converter. I was worried about this cause I did not want any mall or spy ware and both downloads are free of it. so now I am making my own mmf ringtones and pushing them on my phone via bluetooth you can get a bluetooth usb adapter for about 20bux cheep considering that is 5 ringtones once you do get the bluetooth you can go to
http://www.-edited-/pages/help/helpHow.php
and in the download site you can download the freeware to sync your phone or just download your phonebook or whatever this is my 5th samsung and I am very impressed..

this works very well. all you need is quicktime pro and a bluetooth adapter for your comp.
1 Clip MP3/WAV file you want to just that section.
2 File-> Open File in QuickTime Pro
3 File-> Export
4 Dropdown Setting -> Export: Movie to 3G
5 Options Button
6 Dropdown Type - Select Audio
7 Dropdown Audio Format - AAC-LC (Music)
8 Data Rate 96 to 128kbps
9 Channels to Mono
10 Output Sample Rate to 44.1Khz
11 Encoding Quality - Best
12 Frames per Sample - 1
13 Okay - And Save, Upload via Bluetooth

I've been using www.mobilkicker.se to wap files to my t509. When I use Sound Forge to save an mp3 to a wav, and then convert to mmf via wsc-ma2, my t509 tells me that the file is unsupported. When I rename the file with .mid, it will download, but will not play. Any ideas?

so renaming the mp3 clip to a *.3gp file does not work? That is the option they say works for the T809 to use the clip as a ring tone, it should in theory work on the T509 as well right? I have not tried it yet, still have to get Bluetooth for my computer at home

I know this has been said before and I apologize for that. I'm just trying to help those who need it.
For those who care about sound quality know that mmf files are
horrible and because the t509s don't allow you to make custom mp3
ringtones, I figured I'd settle with 3gp (which are better than mmf
ringtones IMO) ringtones which the phone actually DOES ALLOW.
This is how:
First you need 2 things (or at least this was what I needed)
1) Bluetooth on your computer
2) Quicktime pro (because you need the 'export' feature. For those
who do not have quicktime pro, there are ways to get it easily, but I
will not get into that right now)
After you have those two things and after you have edited your mp3
or wav file,
1) open the mp3/wav file in quicktime pro.
2) go to 'files' and click 'export' and window should pop up ("Save
exported file as:")
3) near the bottom of the window is export and a drop down menu,
set the box to 'Movie to 3G' and then press 'options' (which is right
next to the drop down menu)
4) Set file format to 3GPP (Mobile MP4)
Set the next drop down menu to 'Audio'
Set Audio format to "AAC-LC (music)"
Set Date Rate to "128 kbps"
Set channels to "Mono"
Set output sample rate to "44.100 kHz"
Set encoding quality to "best"
Set frames per second to "1"
Click 'OK' and then save. There should be an exporting process
window that pops up after you save.
5) This step is important.
After connecting to bluetooth, DO NOT use the drap and drop
method because it WILL NOT WORK. INSTEAD, go to bluetooth in
your t509 (make sure it is on), go to MY DEVICES, connect to your
computer, press "OPTIONS", "BROWSE FILES," find the file and
press "GET"
Your t509 should read and receive it and voila, you can set the 3gp
file as a ringtone. hooray!
