Will the 3gp method work by emailing it to your phone? Because I tried that and could not set it as a ringtone. It wants to read it as a video file and can't. I can only hear it when I open the the message in my inbox.

I have successfully converted MP3s to MMFs and just emailed them to my T509 phone after changing the extension to .MID (see my previous post in the beginning of this thread) Unfortunately they are not loud enough and don't sound so good. I decided instead to trim FREE MIDI files I googled. If anyone wants to experiment with this I suggest you use these links to trim a MID file (for free) and just email to your phone - very simple way to add some ringers. DonnaB

This is the part that confused me on MISSXLC's posting (which was excellent and works by the way)
<your t509 (make sure it is on), go to MY DEVICES, connect to your computer, press "OPTIONS", "BROWSE FILES," find the file and press "GET" >
I was confused because when I browsed the files on the computer nothing was there and like the other poster could not get it to work and when I tried emailing the 3gp the attachment was dropped. The answer is simple - you have to have the .3gp file saved in the Bluetooth transfer folder. MISSXLC your instructions worked great once I figured this out. Thanks! DDLB

Ok well, like I've always said.. its a phone.. not a Bose.

* #8999*8378# you can use to adjust the volume.

oh and.. I figure prolly some of you want these two

1.) *7465625*638*00000000*00000000#

2.) #7465625*638*00000000#

3.)*#7465625#

code 1 sets the network lock (personalizes network)
code 2 unlocks it
code 3 shows status.

after you've unlocked everything, reboot the phone. Subset code is 00000000

I found these listed from Tim Hatch (whoever that is...dunno... but the codes work)

*#8999*8378# Debug menu, allowing you to tweak audio gains, network selection…
*#87667# Debug mode, allowing user-agent editing and “picture message profiles”
*#87927# WAP browser profiles
*#9999# Firmware name?
*2767*3855# Full EEPROM reset. This removed all customizations I made to the phone, but also removed the sim provider lock. On some models this apparently changes the imei, but not on mine. Be sure you’re patient for it to reboot on its own, it takes a couple of minutes.
*#4777*8665# GPRS Settings
*#2255# Call Log (not sure what’s different from regular)

Hey there, I'm a little new at this so I have a question...might be a bit dumb but still...here goes. What exactly does unlocking the network lock do?

absolutly nothing unless you want to use another service with your phone.. say... you had t-mobile... and wanted to switch to cingular.. by unlocking the phone you are not pinned down to one single provider.

Hi, i found a program that will convert a mp3 into a mmf, midi, amr and wav very quick and painless. The program is called "MP3 To RingTone Gold".
Bascially you upload the file you want then cut the piece you want of the file and click the extension type you want and presto its done. Then I just used a bluetooth adapter and trasfered it on to my t509 and the quality is fairly good. If you have problem getting the program email me.
