Ok, I followed MISSXLC's instructions word for word.
I trimmed my mp3, then exported it with QT Pro using exactly the settings mentioned.
I put the .3gp file in the bluetooth share directory, then exactly like you described, I connected through my phone to get the file from my computer. I got the file, I can play it, but I cant set it as a ringtone. I think the problem is that its showing up in my "downloaded movies" instead of sounds. When I go in to set my ringtone I cant even select from the "downloaded movies" section. It will only let me choose files from "default melodies" or "downloaded sounds"
Since the 3gp files go into the phone as movies they cant be set as ringtones?
I cant figure out what im missing here. Did they update the firmware on the phone to disable this workaround??
Can anyone thats gotten it to work shed some light on this?

PT509.09 T509UVFC4 is what I show for firmware. Can you try another MP3 and see if it works? It worked great for me. If you can't get it to work I will do another Mp3 and see if there is any step I did that wasn't in MISSXLC's instructions - which I thought were excellent. DonnaB

* #8999*8378# you can use to adjust the volume.
oh and.. I figure prolly some of you want these two
1.) *7465625*638*00000000*00000000#
2.) #7465625*638*00000000#
3.)*#7465625#
code 1 sets the network lock (personalizes network)
code 2 unlocks it
code 3 shows status.
after you've unlocked everything, reboot the phone. Subset code is 00000000 |
When I try this I do #1 and it says "Already personalized" I did full eprom reset and tried again, it still says "Already Personalized" I can't get it to unlock

DonnaB, I have the same firmware PT509.09 T509UVFC4. I've tried a few different MP3s.
First I tried just opening it in QT pro, selecting the part of the song I wanted, and triming it using "Edit > Trim to Selection"
then once the song is trimmed, I export it using these settings: "File > Export > Export: Movie to 3G - Options: File Format 3GPP (Mobile MP4), Audio, AAC-LC(Music) 128 kbps, Mono, 44.100 kHz, Best, 1"
Then once the .3gp file is created, I put it in the bluetooth share folder, and using my phone I connect and "get' the file off of my computer.
I also tried using mpTrim to trim it first, then use QT to export it, and I also tried triming it in a wav format and then exporting it using quicktime.
Every time I've tried, I get the file on to my phone, and I can play it, and it sounds great, but I cant set it as a ringtone. Maybe I just dont know where to set it as a ringtone?
If I go in through the file manager, then the .3gp files are in the "Downloaded Videos" folder, but selecting options doesnt give me the option to "set as ringtone" If I go in through the sound > incomming call settings to select a ringtone, I can only choose from the "downloaded sounds" or the "default tunes" I also tried going in to a contact in my phonebook and setting a ringtone or picture id, but niether of them allow me to select a video.
So my question to you i guess would be, do the 3gp files show up in your phone as sounds or videos? and if they are videos then how are you able to set them as ringtones? If they're showing up as sounds then I must really be missing the boat somewhere...
also, in case its somehow relevant, Im using QT 7.0.4 to export the files and using BlueSoliel 1.6.1.4 as my bluetooth program(came with my bluetooth dongle) I suspect that my bluetooth program could be to blame. I'm new to bluetooth so it took me a while to figure out how to use the phone to get the file instead of using the computer to send the file. Any ideas?
You rock by the way. Thanks.

Hey crowscorner, I just got my T509 (previously had a razr v3 which I hacked the hell out of) but I have no idea how or where to input those codes you just listed. Can you tell me how a little more specifically to raise the volume?
Also, without bluetooth, using their cable, can I still transfer my 3gps/mp3s the same way?
btw I used the outlined .3gp method and I got it to work just fine, though it's a big hastle. And in my case, I put the .3gp onto my razr v3, then used the T509 to connect to the razr and browse the files (accessing the system root, with the cl.gif visible, /audio, /video, /pictures etc. Then I grabbed the file from there, and it worked perfectly from there.

Hey americruzano I think I know what you're doing wrong, your setting is File Format 3GPP (Mobile MP4).. change it to just File Format 3GPP. It works for me hopefully it will work for you.

Zobot,
what happens when you enter the next code.. ? ...and the next..? It should unlock with no problems.
As far as the volume settings... i havent played around much with those yet. A friend of mine did, however, and hes got his phone all screwed up so .. be careful with what ever you do.

is there any way to make the phone ring and vibrate at the same time?
because if its loud i miss calls because the phone is in my pocket and can't hear, but if i set it to vibrate first and the phone is in my purse i miss calls because people hang up before the ringer ever starts
