I have gotten more than one call from t-mobile customers asking about cingulars roaming agreements with cingular because suddenly their phones don't work anymore in areas where they used to. so whomever was roaming with these people just changed agreements and left the people screwed. I work for a cingular call center.

Look up what is said about t-mobile in your area on the reception finder on this site. Here in LA my Cingular reception is pretty good in most places. However I've noticed T-Mobile has pretty good reception too and reception in some places I don't get any. Also for the Price T-Mobile is pretty awesome. you can get like 400 anykind messages for like $5 and unlimited internet access for like $6. Just for unlimited internet access with Cingular it's $20 a month. but it all comes down to coverage. So look on the maps. Hell even try out tmobile and if you don't like it return it. I think T-mobile offers good enough prices to give them a trial.
If you don't like them checkout Alltel. They are CDMA but, they have a lot of roaming coverage and t-mobile prices. Plus the my circle thing is pretty cool if you get those plans. However they don't offer service to many people. You can roam here in LA but not get a line if you live here. wierd. umm
I'd say read um on t-mobile and alltel in your area. Try em out if your still not sure after. And if they both suck, I guess go with cingular. they're pretty cool.
