Just bought a V300 off E-bay. This was previously a t-mobile phone which can be noted from the sofware themes and t-mobile logos printed on the phone. The seller of the phone said it was unlocked and could be used on any gsm network. It recognizes my sim card, my name, and phone #, but it will not connect to our network. I am using a small company called Digital Cellular for my service provider, which is a gsm service provider. My previous phone was a v190 which my son dropped in a glass of milk (No longer working). Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is there any message on the phone such as enter subsidy code or contact service provider? If not it sounds like it is unlocked.
Is there any network signal shown?
The V300 is triband (900/1800/1900 MHz) rather than quadband - i'm not sure what band digital celluar use?
You could try a retail (unbranded) monsterpack or flex from http://www.motox.info/showpost.php?p=19259&postcount=4 as its possible t-mobile have locked out 1 of the three bands the phone supports.
If that doesn't solve the problem I would look into what band your carrier uses - if the phone supports it then it is probably a faulty phone.

I also have another v190 which I am using for the same service. Maybe I could compare the two phones to find the difference. What would I look for?

I don't think there will be anything in the phones menus.

If you go to Menu>Settings>Network>Network Settings, the V190 lists 850, 900, 1800, and 1900 Mhz bands. The V300 lists only the 900, 1800, & 1900 bands as you mentioned earlier. Both phones were set to automatically set the band. I'm gonna check with digital cellular about this.
You mentioned a monsterpack and a flex. I also saw a reflash on the page you listed. What exactly do the monsterpack, flex, and reflash do? I noticed a lot of people upgrading the flex and flash on the v300 to a v600. Also, how do you install these things to the phone?

Just checked with digital cellular's technical support, and they are telling me that the tri-band is not an issue as they have several v300's on their network. Looks like the monsterpack and flex might be the way to go.

Sometimes T-Mobile disable certain bands which is why I mentioned a monsterpack - if all those bands are on then a monsterpack / flex won't help further.
A flex is all the phones files and settings
The flash is the phones firmware
A monsterpack contains both of these.
Take a look at the flaashing and firmware section for how to do it

Looks like I'll need a cable for the reflash. Where is the best place for this? Too bad it isn't a usb port on the phone.
