Whenever I just switched on my K600i and press "calls" right away, the phone freezes at "opening the contact list" for >2 mins before I can do anything.
Imagine this situation: I am on an important call saving a life. The phone battery died. I have a spare battery so thought it was ok, put back the battery, turn on the phone, press “calls” to dial the last dialed number, and this “opening contact information” came up...for not 2-3 secs but 2-3 mins!! By the time it finishes opening the contact list, the person on the
other line already died!!
I brought the phone to SE service centre, they first told me my contact list is too long. When I said is has only 200+ names on the list and there is still plenty of memory space, they said my calendar is too full.
So I brought the phone home and erased my whole calendar. It didn't help. Then I erased all my contact list and still didn't help.
When I brought it back to the service centre, they said they need to upgrade my software and that will erase everything on my phone. I did that relunctantly but seems that's the only solution.
When I got the phone back, the technician said they found that my software was corrupted which caused the problem. By upgrading the software, they confirmed that they have solved the problem.
So I tried right away. Guess what? The problem is still there! So they take the phone back and consulted their senior and then came out and tell me that this is the normal behaviour of the phone!! Think about it! These useless people made me erase all my phone memory, wiped out everything on my phone, made me wait 2 hours at their service centre, claimed that they found my software corrupted, and then tell me there is actually nothing wrong with the phone!
Anyone of you encountered this same problem before? It's supposed to happen on all the SE 3G phones.
Think twice if you are considering buying a SE phone!

"think twice before buying a SE phone"?...me?...never!
just becasue you had a bad expereince with one SE phone doesn't mean all SE phones are bad. didn't you try to ask for a replacement as an option?

I am not complaining about just one SE phone. I am talking about the way they treat customers! You are lucky no body made you erase everything on your phone for nothing! Read my posting one more time! They are saying there's nothing wrong with the phone so what replacement are you talking about?

1st off, sorry to hear you lost all of your information on your phone. But didn't anyone tell you to backup all your contacts and info 1st?
I can't say anything about the people that you have dealt with SE...some of them may be disgruntled, newbies, whatever...I don't know. But all of my dealings with SE have been positive. If you're well within your warranty, and state that your phone is defective to the point that it does not work, go to Cusotmer Service and see what can be done about it. There is always options. If you need more help, just email me.

Of course everything is backup but it's still a pain to set every little thing back to order after the phone was reformatted. I don't mind if they solve the problem after that but they didn't!

Well, the phone still works fine other than the freezing when I turn it on and they said it's normal so I can't say it does not work.

That's exactly what I did and they said I have to live with the problem because this is "the normal behaviour of the phone". Yes...of course...there is always options...as they said themselves, if I don't like it, go ahead to buy another brand! What else can I say?
BTW, it's not just one staff. I dealt with 4 different staffs in that service center and none of them were able to help. I even email their online support and they replied to say that they will investigate further and no further reply after 3 weeks!

Same fault here on my Sony K608i. My display shows "Opening contact information" continuously until I hit the Cancel option. This happened after the phone died mid-call. Any help grafefully received!

OK I have fixed it! I Master Reset the phone from the Menu (not sure if that is necessary) and removed the SIM and restarted the phone. Then I turned it off and started with the SIM in again.
On reflection the problem happened after I copied the contacts from the phone memory to the SIM and then restarted the phone.
Anyhow, I am going to delete the contacts from the SIM now!
