Today I bought a Razr V3 to replace my nokia 6010 (yes!). Anyways, it was working fine and I could call, send messages, etc. A couple hours later I noticed that it said Unregistered SIM and I had no service. I went outside, and it still said the same thing. So I turned the razr off, took out the battery, took out the sim card and then made sure it was in all the way. I put the battery back in and turned it on. Without any delay, I had service again and it was working fine, but now it says invalid battery. What is the problem? ThankYou for your help.

Thats a new bug, haven't heard anything like that, although I have been noticing the service going in and out with cingular lately...idk if that would effect you or not, but if you remove the battery one more time, and it still says unregistered bring it to your provider, thats an obvious warranty problem.

I haven't heard of this problem on a V3, but there was a past issue:
on the T720/C333/T721/MPx220/V600 they would get an "Invalid Battery" message.
Error: "Invalid battery."
Issues and errors
Battery may be defective or may not be a Motorola original battery.
After market battery (non- Motorola battery) was inserted, the battery does not have Motorola communication technology.
After the error is displayed, it is accompanied by a single beep.
The beep is indicating that you do not have charging capabilities with the battery even though it may be able to power the device on.

Thanks a lot for replying guys. I looked around on the internet some more after I posted, and nobody really knows what its caused by, some said to not leave your phone on for days at a time (which I didn't) and some said to clean the contacts on your SIM card. So basically, I guess no one really knows. I left the Razr off for a while and then turned it back on and I haven't had a problem since I turned it on (several hours) so I guess it's fine. YES. Thanks.

Glad to hear it corrected itself. If it happens again then ask the provider though, see if they know of any fixes (I seriously doubt that, they are in the dark with this kind of stuff, but always worth a shot at least some know about these things) A good practice to get into because you'll notice the phone slow down is to turn it off at least once a day and leave the battery out for 1 or 2 minutes then turn it back on. Clears the phones memory cache so it can run and process quicker, cuts back on some other goofy things too.

I'm having the same problems on a 6 month old razr v3. Out of the blue it shuts down, after I power up it then tells me it has an invalid battery. After I re-insert the battery it prompts me to insert SIM (already inserted). I am careful with this phone and have not abused it. Has anybody heard of any recalls?

I'm having that problem with my slvr. I get the white screen though and have to turn my phone off by pulling the battery out. When I put it back in, that's when I get the invalid battery message.

Yea, it would take more to elaborate with that, have you flashed it at all?? Or any kinds of start-up shutdown animation changes?? Thats not a natural problem if you haven't tweaked it at least, if not bring it back, thats probably a defective phone.

Yes, i am having the same problem. I currently bought a RAZR v3i unlocked from ebay (from a trusted company). I started charging it immediatly. After 2 hours, i check it and it says invalid battery. I thought there was just some problem that would go away when the battery died. I had no battery status at all. So about 4 hours later I am trying to call someone using it and it dies on me. I put it in the charger, it says invalid battery almost immedialty as i plug it in. I then turn it on like normal and it leads, gives me my greeting, then when it says searching for network, it dies on me again going to the screen that says invalid battery. I am currenty trying to leace it on for the night and check its status in the morning.
The battery is a Lithium Ion Battery BR50. Service is At&T (aquired by Cingular) It IS unlocked.
Thank you if you can help.

I bought a RAZR V3 in October. I started getting the 'invalid battery' message too. Sometimes it works with that message displayed, or it will not work at all. Cingular is sending me a replacement phone/battery. They don't know what it is - so I am wondering how long before the new one starts 'invalid battery'. One operator said that there is an 'a' battery and 'b' battery and one doesn't work? My battery says made in China, I saw one at a cingular store that was made in Japan...If anyone finds out whats up with this please post it! Thanks
