we won't give you support if you call in tethering with a medianet plan though. it requires the higher price point becuase you're pulling in so much more data. vpn's and stuff won't work through the wap APN, but it's fine for regular browsing. they even give written instructions with screen shots about how to do it on cingular's support page.

I am sure the VZW kid is going to talk about APN.
Well guess what. That doesn't work anymore. Changing the APN in snooper for a phone that has medianet to the isp.cingular WILL NOT work.

vzw? da heck? I'm data support for cingular. you don't even need the isp apn. and i'd never manually change an apn for an account that didn't have the corresponding plan

Ya know, I did some speed tests recently and I got an average 50-100 KBPS higher data Rates on the isp apn vs. the wap apn

Wow! I'm really surprised! I just purchased a LG 500 that I was assured would could be tethered to my laptop by signing up for a 19.99 media net plan. I am somewhat visually challenged and the tiny screen on the phone surely won't work for my infrequent computer needs, like when I travel and want to pay bills and check email. Have I been scammed by the Cingular rep that sold me this phone?  I'd sure like to know as I can still back out as I haven't had it long.at least that is what I was told.
