the 8931 are AWS branded 32k sims. one option is to check your local stores. it doesn't look like ebay has been much help.

Hello, this is my first post. I am in the same situation, having just lost my AT&T phone/sim card with no desire to switch to Cingular service and have a new contract. I just need a new sim card and phone.

I am a bit confused by the responses on the forum. It seems that I need a card with a specific number that may or may not be purchased in a cingular store? given away for free by Cingular? found on ebay?

Bottom line is, how can I get a new sim, activate it on my account, and not lose my rate plan and month to month service? In addition, I have a business plan with benefits and discounts from the AT&T days.

Thanks for your help

Call the Cingular stores local to your area to see if they have the sim card you're looking for...it's pretty much luck of the draw if a store would have it or not. But if one store doesn't have it, they can call others and have it delivered if you don't want to travel certain distances. They usually cost $15 each. Even now, some stores don't carry non 3g cards anymore.

The Sim card Cingular sent me arrived today and it is a 64K of course it will not work on the AT&T network. The Rep who told me I had to have a 32K card sent me a 64K!

I have logged 28 hours on the phone with Cingular Customer service and another 6 hours with local stores trying to find the right SIM. Cingular has NO SOLUTIONS.

Dude...have you called all the stores...have you posted on online sites like craigslist, ebay, whatever...did you post in the ads about what you needed? There's nothing wrong w/ ATTW...but if you wanted to stay w/ the service so much, you would have tried anything to get that sim card. Your complaining now...but what happens after 2008.

-"I don't want to go to Cingular because they don't know what they're doing. They have no solutions."

I wouldn't be surprised if you ever said that again. What a buch of crap...No solutions...give me a break and stop complaining because something is not going your way, jeez.

I actually have tired everything you suggest in your hostile email:
I bought a SIM card on Ebay- Cingular won't activate it.
I have called every F-ing store for a 20 mile radius- none of then have Sim for ATT and can't understand what "idiot" told me to call them. Apparently Califoirnia stores don't have any ATT Sims anymore.
And I was using Craigslist while you were still in high school.
I've been trying to solve this problem with Cingular since May 12th. And although I have gotten some good ideas from this forum- they have not gotten me any closer to a resolution. It feels more like a place for Cingular employees to show off their obscure knowledge of the system, the problem is trying to find anyone in Customer service who actually works for Cingular who can act on that information for a customer.

Cingular is crap.

P.S. By 2008 Cingular will be H I S T O R Y dancing orange icon and all. AT&T just bought BellSouth which owns Cingular.
Sweet justice.

we're well aware. I'm sure it will come sooner than 2008. everything will stay the same. simply a name change.
