That would be amazing- I hope the idiots out here in San Francisco can figure out how to use an old SIM card. I'm not sure if this forum will allow us to exchenage personal information, so that I could take you up on that offer. But I'll try to insert my email address. try me here iamparis@gmail.com
I would really appreciate your extra card, thank you so much for the offer.

Today is great timing- last week I was "personally promised" that a SIM card would be sent FEDEX to my home address and this problem would come to an immediate end! - Cingular sent the SIM card to an address I haven't lived at since 2001. Nice work if you can get it!

this is really turning out to ba a comedy of errors...

some questions for you

1 Are they charging you for the sim?
If so demand tthe charges be reversed, as well as the shipping charges

2. you have been without service for at leas 45 days and counting....I've been following your posts with some interest ( I work for Cingular... dont hold that against me)... demand at least the last 2 months services charges be refunded

3. as well to drive your point home ask for a courtesy credit for the errors of the situation.. this should be worth at least 50 bux MORE

and as an aside... I see one of our fellow poster offered you a spare card... given the situation that may start a new round of "confusion"....

henceforth until resolved deal only with a supervisor... get names of all the people that you talk to (I hope you already have started this)

and finally after it is over... write a letter... to the CEO (Stan Sigman) describe the situation in point form... include names dates and actions taken or mistaken or not taken...

hope this helps...

Yea you don't really want to try using a used sim card that may make things worse.

i used an old sim card, it took cingular 2 seconds to program it and it works fine for me. i mean i guess not having a phone is better 4 you, but personally i would rather take an old sim card and have a phone. unless you just like drama... and the advice came from a customer services manager that talked to us.

i have read all your notes. beleive me they always do the wrong stuff be it sending the wrong sim card or changing you to wrong rate plans. I do not know whether they do it accidentally or not.

Anyway to make your phone work with ATT plan you need sim starting with 8931 not 8901. 8901 works with cingular not att.

Also cingular do have 8931 sim because recently I have purchased that. So just go on asking them. The sim card cost $25 each when purchased from store.

I do not want to migrate to Cingular yet. So when my husband lost his cell phone so I called in to deactivate it and to order a new sim only. (I had an old AT&T phone.) Cingular told me the AT&T sims were on back-order and would take 4-6 weeks, but I could try calling local stores. Instead I ordered a sim from eBay, as well as a cool unlocked phone. Five days later my husband had an active phone again, so we're happy. But now I'm thinking I should get spares so next time we won't even have to wait five days. I've got spare sims now and more unlocked phones. Two questions-

1. Can I go ahead and activate the extra sims? Can two sims be active for one phone number?

2. Since AT&T will be the new parent of Cingular, will my original AT&T contract be honored for upgrades and continued support, or will I still someday need to migrate to a "Cingular" plan?

no 2 sims can't be activated leave them be "blank" tha tway they can be setup on just about any phone if they are activated in system and deactivated they will be diabled. and as far as I know if you upgrade I beileve they will convert you to cingular.
