Yet another problem with the Verizon RAZR V3c.
I bought a USB cable that is "supposed" to support my RAZR, well when I plug it in, on the RAZR's screen it appears "Unauthorized Charger" and pops up in windows saying that an error connecting with the USB device and it seem as if I can resolve this... It does it everytime. Please someone help, I have all the drivers but Windows is not even recognizing what the USB device is because the RAZR doesnt send any info through the cable...

Well the drivers you have are most likely for a GSM model of the V3. Verizon has a totally different software than GSM models. I personally dont know how to mod a CDMA V3 but ill see if I can look around to find something out for yah. But till then I wouldnt try messing around with it, most likely you wont get anywhere.

Well I have Motorola PhoneTools 4.0 which is for the V3c, which is the model that I own... But when I try to plug it in, it gives me "Unauthorized Charger" and will not let Windows recognize it...

I have the same problem with my new Razr V3c from Verizon. I have installed all sort of drivers and windows doesn't even recognize that the phone is connected. All the phone says is "unauthorized charger". I'm stuck. I really hope someone figures this out!!!

Well see, That a bad things about the V3c. I learned that until you get the V3c to accept the charger and say it is charging, Windows will not recognize what the device is, or possible not recognize that it is there at all. I unplugged and plugged mine in about 50 times before it displayed the charging message, once I got the charging message, It started showing up Motorola RAZR V3c found, but until that point, a message popping up saying USB Device Malfunctioned, but finally went away when I got the phone to say charging...

THe mini usb plug may be a 4 wire. You need a 5 wire. And I had taht error with my supplied motorola charger. Was a defective charger

Only way I know was when I was looking for another in Wallmart, the standard one in packaging was a 4 wire, and listed on the package as such. The multi use USB cable listed the mini as a 5 wire. So I opted for the one with 5 wire. plus it came with other tips(firewire, and regular usb,a total of 5 or 6 tips to use). I bought a 2.0 usb 23in 1 card reader off of e-bay(rather cheap I may add)and the power cord is the same as motorola cord. Wich is what I first used before buying the other as a travel along. Looking at the connection, there's definately 5 wire connection in there. Soooo outta elimination,I believe 5 wire is the way to go.

Also you may get these similar errors if you use the wrong USB ports, the main working ones are usually only the first two in the back, ones through hubs or keyboards or in the front of the PC usually don't work, just a heads up.

Yeah, I did know about the ports on the back of the computer thing... It's gotta be the 4-wire vs 5-wire issue. As soon as I buy a 5-wire mini cable I'll let you guys know if that solved my problem.
Thanks,
Tico
