I've read that the Z520a has a very bad camera, whereas the W600i has 1.3mp camera with 256mb of storage.
The biggest concern I have with the W600i is that the guy at Cingular told me that within the past month, about 10 have come back with problems in the swivel, i.e. that the phone just comes apart. Has anybody here experienced anything like that with the W600i?
I seem to have basically narrowed it down to the Z520a or the W600i, since I don't like the UI of the Motorolas anymore (too slow), and SE comes with free PC software. I don't really care about the FM radio in the W600i, however, can anybody tell me about how good the call reception is?
Does anybody have any thoughts or comments on how I should decide?
Also, does anybody know if there's a maximum time limit while recording video on the W600i?

Wow. The comparison between these 2 phones is almost like night and day. If you can afford it, definitely go for the W600i. If you're on a very tight budget, then go for the Z520. However, if you're going to get a new activation, you can buy a W600 for $49.99 w/ online discount and rebate.
Reception is good on both phones, so no complaints on either of them. The build of the W600 has always been sturdy to me. Of course, it's slightly looser than that of the S710. But nothing to the point where it falls apart. Its just like when some people hold the Nokia 6820 for the 1st time, they think that the hinges are going to break.

I beileve we had an issue with that particular model it is/has been corrected. it was a known issue the swivel on the w 600i I beileve that was the model so they are correcting or have corrected that issue. I know a lot of people with the w600i phones they are nice. They have the same battery the same data cable set up for both phones. (some of their components in other words are interchangable)

I just ordered a W600i this morning, and should be receiving it late next week. Is there any way to tell if my phone is one of the corrected ones? What exactly was the issue anyway?
Also, does the mp3 player / radio work on the phone if you're not using headphones? I read in a review someone said they disliked the fact that the radio only works with headphones. Is this true?

It should be the later model that you're getting...so no worries.
And yes, you'd have to use the headphones for the radio. It's not really a big deal... I mean other phones that have radio also need to use the headphones because they act as an antenna.

I have the W600 and I love it so far. I've had for a couple days and I've had no trouble with it.
Yes, you need the headphones for the radio.

The w600i is awesome, the best phone yet, I have had several phones since last summer, the 3220, v360, V220, V635i, 6101, and the V3, the W600i is the best yet, I have had no problems with the swivel, camera is great, reception is awesome, radio and voice quality is great, so if u have the extra money and wish to have a better phone then the Z520a then chose the W600i, u cant loose, or u could wait until the 810i comes out that does not have a swivel it is like the slivers except SE models. A little pricy yet, around $400.00 Canadian right now, so u may want to wait, if the swivel issue worries u. I have yet to record a video but I think that it is around 2 minutes that u can record a video, which really isnt that bad.
ps: The battery life on the phone is great even when listening to hours of music and playing games with ur fully functional key pad.

Fwiw, as long as you have the headphones plugged in for the radio, you can redirect the sound to the speakers.
When you have the radio playing, just go to "More" and choose "Turn On Speaker". You still have to keep the headphones connected, but this way you don't have to have them in your ears to hear the music.
