My every two came up in May and I've been waiting for the release of the Samsung a930 and the LG VX8300 to come out. This morning they finally became available online. When I looked at the upgrade page it said that for the new phones that were released (these two, the RAZR V3m and the Motorolla Q) would require me to change my contract, while all the older phones would not.

This is my first time renewing my contract and taking advantage of the every two program, so I was wondering if anyone had any advice? The big difference is that I now have unlimited TXT for $5 and if I change my contract it would go up to $10. Don't I have to change my contract anyways? Or is it only with these few new phones which I've been waiting for? Thanks for any help. I was just hoping to have some knowledge before going into the store so that maybe I can bargain to keep my $5 unlimited txt. Also, any recommendations between those two phones?

if you go to the store you are not required to change any of your plans, but online it does make you. its a better idea to go to the store.

I went into the store and talked with the representatives, and they said that the system was changed at the beginning of the month and that it won't let them keep anyone's previous promotions. Apparently it forces everyone who's upgrading to change from the $5 unlimited TXT to the now $10 one. The guy that I talked to even said that one of the contractors that he's worked with had to do that...apparently they can't even do it for their own...oh well, what's another $60 bucks a year................. icon_mad.gif

Are you sure you are dealing with an actual Verizon employee? because in direct agents will tell you they have to switch you to make sure they get paid the commission for your text

First off, I just wanted to say thank you for caring enough to repsond. And now onto the drama-

I called once, and then talked to one of the people at an official Verizon store (not one of the "Authorized Dealers").

On the phone they said that the new billing system that they instituted between June 2nd and 4th made it impossible for them to retain any of the old promotions.

Initially on the Verizon Wireless website I could keep my old plan and get a new phone, if the new phone wasn't one of the ones that was just released, aka the Samsung a930 and the LG VX8300, which is the phone that I want. I just double checked it and it says that all of the phones are "compatible with my current plan" but when I select one, I have to still update my plan, meaning that it jumps up to 10 bucks a month, from the 5.

What is the way around this?

I'm guessing that it's just something I'm going to have to deal with...oh well.
