If you have text messaging on your plan, then all IN texts are free and you have X amount of regular texts. If you don't, 10 cents to send, 10 to receive I believe.

in a word you may never know.

Some people may be on a verizon family plan and only the mainphone is concidered IN not the familiy members phone.

Also if some one doesnt sign up for IN next messaging then its NOT free.

Also the second their contract expires they no no longer IN for voice or SMS.

But remember they are only IN for text if they Sign up for an IN next plan.

also verizon will charge you for SPAM texts

thats not true. where are you getting that information from? With Verizon family plans everyone is IN

You have to have a txt messaging plan with IN for the texts to be free

Even if the contract expires you ARE still IN for voice and text.

Verizon doesn't charge you for spam text. The Spammers charge Verizon, and you pay the spammers!

you have to have an "in" txt plan. it's $10 for in with additional 500 messages, $15 for in with addition 1000 messages, and $20 for in with an anddition 2500 messages. this also includes in pix/flix messaging. also, it doesn't matter what plan you or your friend is on, just as long as you have an "in" text plan. every verizon customer is in. also, if you have been doing it, but do not have one of these plans and want to add it, the customer service rep who helps you should be able to backdate it to the beginning of your billing cycle to take care of any in messaging you've done up to this point.

FYI, there are some "older" Family share plans that do not have unlimited in calling to every verizon #, some on the 2nd lines only have "in" to the other lines on the acct.

Yeah Texan, those grandfather plans are a pain to figure out. But the question was about the text plans and Fragility was right on the money.

And Steve....every provider charges for incoming spam. No different from anyone else.
