Mydlyk/Gnar: I think the lack of ports in the drop-down list is a software issue. The Samsung software is the 2nd-worst PC-to-phone interface I've ever seen (the worst came from C*rph*ne W*reh*use). I managed to get it working by using the Control Panel to work out which port the "Samsung modem" thought it was using, then going into the Registry Editor and adding the port selection manually.
There should be a DWORD Registry key entry under:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Samsung PC Studio\2.0\PIMS & File Manager\Settings called "CommPort" which should be the same as the port (i.e. 4=COM4).

Well, after getting the live updates and changing my USB setting on the phone to modem, it's working. I'll try some ring tones later. icon_biggrin.gif

Ok, I have a T809, which came with PC studio ver. 3.0. I think the USB driver says 1.0. I installed the program, hooked up the USB cable that came with my phone, and it still says no connected. What am I doing wrong? Do I need the ver. 2.0 USB driver? I checked for a newer driver for my T809 and nothing comes up. Help?

All you have to do is change the USB setting to Modem setting then you'll be able to connected to the software. Menu - setting - phone setting - usa settings - select modem SAVE.

I bought the Eforcity Premium USB Data Cable for Samsung via Amazon for 18 bucks and 10 bucks shipping and it arrived a month ago. No matter what I did I could not get the phone to talk to the pc and visa versa. I used the Samsung PC Studio II PIMS & File Manager, I used USB driver software, I played with variations of comm settings, I even tried it on other pc's of friends. I sold the USB cable via ebay for profit (funny) and then bought this nifty item at a grocery store's bargain electronics department. Sweex USB to IrDA Bridge (Infrared Interface) and it works! My worries are over! I now can upload stuff to the phone and download photos and videos to my pc. Here is a URL what this thing looks like. I hope that this will resolve your USB cable pc to phone frustration as well.

By the way after installing the software for the infrared bridge you need to uninstall PIMS & File Manager and install the 1.0.0.1 version (you can download it from the samsung.com support & download section. Even if you have the 1.0.0.1 version.uninstall it anyway so you have a clean version without messed up settings. Okay.Reboot your pc, launch PIMS & File Manager first, and then connect the infrared bridge via the USB port, then activate the infrared on your phone (see your phone manual), then line up the phone's infrared port with the infrared bridge, and viola! Please let me know if this works for your samsung phone, cuz this resolved my problems with connecting my SGH-X660 to my pc.hallelujah!

Help! I have an SGH-E490 and I cannot get it to connect to the computer. I installed the software that came with the phone but it only says "Offline" and tells me to "Confirm connection COM1". Well, I tried following the advice of some people, but I don't understand. Like what do you mean with registry editor? I tried looking it up but I'm still confused icon_frown.gif

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
