Hi i currently own a Sidekick 2 and have the 19.99 unlimited sidekick text/web/aim/ect plan. When i look at the MDA on the net it says i need to get this 49.99 data plan, and when i look at what exactly is in the plan it says i actually get less with the mda plan, 300 text unlimited web/email/hotspots, vs sidekick plan's unlimited text/web/ and no hotspots(which i dont care about anyways). I read a few weeks ago that i could buy an unlocked treo 650 and just put in my sim card and it would work. Tmo wouldnt even be able to tell im using a treo.
If anyone knows for sure this works that would be great. Furthermore, if it does indeed work would i be able to use the EDGE and wifi that the MDA has and the sidekick does not? Edge is just like a faster version of GPRS, the thing sidekick uses, soo i would imagine it would all work, and wifi is dependent of user anyways on like laptops and what not.
One last thing, i read somewhere i could "tether" (i think that is what its called) to my laptop. Meaning i could hook a cable to the MDA and connect it via USB to my laptop and use the MDA's network ot surf the net anywhere while i have phone service. Is there any truth to this?

You can use the mda as a modem connection for your laptop but as far as the sidekick plan goes. Tmobile has caught on to that and blocked the access with out having the correct plan but if you are adding the mda total internet package it will only cost you 29.99 to add it on to your min plan.

Ahh I c, what a bummer =/ now with that 29.99 plan do I get all the same features as sidekick? What I'm rly looking for is unlimited web, text and aim. If its got that I can prly deal with 10 extra a month. But I read that it only has 300 texts, soo that wouldn't cut it... Wtf is with tmo?

well the reason is with the MDA you get the EDGE internet and Hotspot you do not get any text included if the plan is an add on to a min plan.. IMHO I would wait for the SDKIII it comes out next month.

Right I heard about sk3, but its missing a lot of things. Is there video playback on it? I dunno I guess I shud wait for that and c what was true about it and what was not. My plan has unlimited text on it for my sis so that would carry over on all phones on my plan right?
