I'm still locked into acontract with cingular for now. I need a phone that has kick tail reception. I don't care about video, mp3s, texting, movies GPS, PDAs, pictures, Surfing the net, uploading/downloading, ringtones, size, color, race religeon or ethnicnic backgrounds.....
I just want a phone that works at my dock..... If the phone does other stuff that's fine, but I won't use it. So what phone gets the BEST reception for a GSM network? Or is there a place that rates new cell phones on reception and such?
I have bought a marine antenna tht plugs into the back of my v551 (motorolla). It works well but if I forget to unplug it when I get into a good coverage area it will over spike the signal and make it have worse reception.

The sales people keep pushing me toward Nokia products. They "say" they get better reception.
Are we all pretty much in agree emnt that the RAZOR offers the best reception?
If I bought the v3i could I use it as an ipod type thing for my car? (I already have a jack)

Well, Nokias are known to be dependable have good reception...but then just like other manufacturers, it's on a case by case basis. Did you call, or did you go to a local Cingular store to get info? Also, did they tell you exact models, or was it just in general?
You can use the V3i for your car, as long as you have an adaptor so that you can use a 3.5mm jack.
Another phone that I liked that has good reception is the 2125.
I have not tried the V3i yet, so I can't say anything about its reception. But I've heard from other people that it's not as great as the V3 (I'll believe them when I try it out myself).

So far, at least in my area I am the opposit. I say HELL NO to the Razr. My reception around here sucks with it. But with 4 year old trusty Nokia candy bar phone, just fine.
