just picked up a new thermal cup from tim hortons. the design is genius (sp?) i've had other thermal cups and nothing compares. now, the coffe isn't anything special, but i gotta say tim horton's rocks! they have awesome food and cheap prices. I usually get chili, but today i had soup. the thermal cup just gave them a notch up in my book.

they actually don't let their pots sitaround for more than 20 minutes or tehy dump them out. they check the time then mark it on the pot with an eraseable felt pen. It's weaker than the way i make my own coffee, but it seems to have more caffiene in it. don't know why.

the donut shops are mainly tim horton's here...with some Robin's donuts too, but they're not as popular.
I drove across canada on greyhound. some tim horton's had smoking rooms with glass doors. odd.
I remember one surreal experience where i woke up at 3am in the middle of nowhere (northern ontario i think it was) about -30 C and i sleepily walked into a robin's donuts where it was thick with ciggarette smoke.

I do not know, I like the donuts from Tim's far more than Robin's, but am clearly addicted to Robin's coffee over Tim's. This may mean that I will not get into Canadian Heaven, as I am not a die hard lover of Tim's, but oh well.
There were actually some of the Robin's donuts in Regina, Sk. Canada that when Sk went non smoking, they had their smoking customers pay an amt, and they had an old office for them to sit in, and have a smoke. it lasted for a few months, until someone ratted them out, and the health inspector came in.

I went to a robin's donuts in regina when i was passing through. it was combined with a sub shop, so it was pretty good. in halifax here, we have only one robin's donuts that i know of, we had two, but one closed a couple years back. when i lived downtown halifax, i had four tim horton's within a five minute walk.
