This is going to be an incredibly stupid question b/c i am just learning all the technology for cell phones (for the last 12 years, my cell phone has been, well, just a cell phone without all the extras on it).
Do I need to have/be signed up for internet access through the phone to do this? I know my phone is capable of web browsing, but I think you must pay extra/sign up for that capability, right? I do have text messaging service. Is that enough? Or do I need something different to receive and open emails?
I actually am not stupid in the realm of technology, I've just never bothered/needed any of this extra stuff on my phone so I'm not sure how it all works, and the user manual for the phone pretty much assumes yo already understand all of this.
Thanks for the help.

I have managed to get a short section of my desired song in MP3 format onto my phone and it will play it. However, I can't figure out how to set it as a ringtone. Any advice? thanks in advance

i just used audacity to cut/amp an mp3 and tossed it into the phones memory using bitpim and bluetooth. hideously slow transfer because of verizons crippling but it works. even a full mp3 works but phone memory is sorta too small to abuse liek that . supposedly the vx8100 u could replace a file with one that would make the phone look to the memory card for ringtones. dunno if this file works for the vx8300.

for kesrya-
all you need is to have enabled pix and text messaging on your phone and you can do this.

I used audacity to cut clips of songs i wanted and texted them to my phone and was able to use them as a ringtone. it seems to me though that the quality of the song seems reduced compared to the mp3 of the song i also have on my phone. Is there a way i can make the qualtiy of my ringtone clips better?

I seem to have the same problem. I emailed my clip to mymobilephone@vzwpix.com and quality of the song was incredibly reduced as compared to pc version. Any reason or help

Works like a charm. Incidentally, because I was using an LG VX6000 prior to getting the 8300 yesterday, I had my ringtones saved as .mid (I just changed the file extension). So far, the quality of my ringtones do not sound any different. Maybe that's a difference? I doubt it, but worth a shot for those that are frustrated.

I have the 8300 and so far love it because it links up with my garmin nav system but appairently I have the new software on it with major limitations on things you can change. I tryed to send a short mp3 to my phone (vzwpix) and it tells me it does not support mp3. What format should I try to get it to be a ringtone? Help

After I shorten my clip, I use iTunes to compress the clip to AAC format then compress it again to MP3 format. |
i use iturn to convert the ringtone to ACC file format but i don't see there's a function on the itune that can convert ACC file to mp3. How can I do that? One more thing, my ringtone mp3 file is 164k size and after I send the email to mycellnumber@vzwpix.com and get a can't deliever message with 'ERROR: Wap Encoding Error'. I live in US so do I have to put 1 in front of my 10 digit phone number for the email? Thanks alot.
