Okay so it sounds really stupid but everything I did before was right.... The only thing is you cant try to access the player by going into the tunes & tones because it's really not supposed to play mp3's..

You have to just hold down the play button on the front of the phone and it will eventually come up....

Also to get the songs to show up on the phone just put them in the my_mp3's folder dont create sub categorys....

the mp3 folder does not recognize subcatagories... which means if you plan to use a 1GB microSD card you will have roughly 200 loose mp3s... anyone have a definite solution to this problem? I am hoping there is some way to make playlists in the mp3 folder? anyone have any solutions?

I gave up using MP3's for listening to music, as stated, there is no way to effectively organize them. Since I own the CD's I listen to, I just re-ripped them in WMP and used the cable. All the tag info xfers nicely and they are organized the way I want them.

To bad they don't support MP3 and it's tags.

So, what I'm understanding is, the only way I can put mp3s on my phone is to take the memory card and put it in the larger memory card, and insert the memory card into the card reader on my computer? And THEN will the my_mp3 folder show up? Cause when I go through the cord they gave me, there isn't a my_mp3 player. and no matter what I do, no matter where I put the mp3s, when I disconnect from the synch software in the phone, the mp3s are gone. I am soooooo frustrated.

Format the SD card in your phone first, before you do anything. That will put all the folders you need on the card.

I feel as though I've followed the directions on previous posts, but when I press play on the front of the phone, or access my MP3s through the menu, I get the message NO SONGS FOUND IN MEMORY. However, when I put the mini SD card into the card slot on my printer, it recognizes that all of the songs are there. I've formatted the card, and I enabled mp3s, as outlined in the others posts, but clearly I've missed some obvious step. I don't use itunes; I have both Rhapsody and Windows Media player. I didn't use the Music Essentials package, or a USB cable, since I'm able to have the card read through the slot on my printer. Is anything obvious jumping out at anyone that I'm missing? Like other posters, I've sat in front of the computer for hours and am stumped. Thanks!

feshprince:
If you have a new-ish version of the 8300 it probably came with V3 of the firmware. With V3 you can use the (included) VCAST music player to play MP3s. If you have an older version. I duno. got no experience with that.

Getting to the VCAST player this way:
(menu - get_it_now - get_tunes&tones - my_music)

The only "tricky" thing is that you need to have a microSD card, format the card with the phone, and then load your mp3s onto the card (from your computer via a card reader) in the correct folder of the card (my_music). Or you can purchase music from verizon, but I've never done that so can't help.

Good Luck --Bill
