Hi,
I've been reading all the posts on the forum but still got problems.
I received my LG VX8300 yesterday and I've been trying to send ringtones to my new phone but had little luck. I tried sending to (mycell#)@vzwpix.com and also sending them from the vxwpix website. I sent MP3, WAV, Midi and WMA in different bitrates, small and large files. I do receive the messages (only if sent from the website, if emailed to (mycell#)@vzwpix.com the email will bounce back but the phone only tells me: You've received a pix...etc, to view go to www.vzwpix.com
I'm starting to doubt that to be able to save your own ringtones on the phone you must purchase a VCast subsription... is that so?
I'd appreciate any help on the matter... my phone doesn't really show the option to use the attachment sent. Thank.
Luca

You do not need a VCast subscription.
Have you enabled your phone to play mp3s?
Are you keeping them less than 350kb?
Are you using Audacity and Lamelib?
Have you read the large post at the beginning of this thread?
To my knowledge, everything you need is there...

Hi,
No enable MP3 option, see message below.
When I receive a message with sound attachment, the menu in my phone does not have an option "set as ringtone" as all other phone discussed here seem to have.
And again... anything I email to mycell#@vzwpix.com bounces back as undeliverable message (Error: Wap Encoding Error).
Thanks!

Well... in my LG VX8300 (Verizon) there is no Option 5 (play key)... in my phone option 5 is "reset keys" and there is no option Play MP3 either.
Has Verizon been limiting access to the phone capabilities?

Did you do BOTH things needed to enable mp3s? I've included it below...
Step by step to enable mp3: Two part process.
To enable outside phone buttons to play mp3:
From main screen press OK and then the number 0 seven times (you’ll see a series of question marks disappear). Then scroll all the way down and press #11 (Music Setting). Finally, choose My mp3.
To get MP3s to play, including ringtones – Press OK (Menu) and go to Settings and Tools, press 5 (phone settings), press 2 (shortcut key), press 5 (play key), and choose my mp3s.

Thank you. My MP3 are enabled. Only problem now is that when I send anything to mycell#@vzwpix.com it never gets to my phone (yes, I am using the ten digit phone number before the @ part). It just doesn't arrive to my phone... not sure why. I tried through outlook and also gmail... nada.

i found this site a while ago, it worked with my old phone and my new vx8300, its free to use, but you have to wait in line for them to send you a txt message with the file. http://mobile17.smashsworld.com/shell/ they edit the song you want to upload, to make it the right size, plus it can start the ringtone at any second of the song, so you can only have the chorus if you want.

Thanks Computerhater, I'll try that.

Ok, Latest News. I tried http://mobile17.smashsworld.com/shell/ under computerhater suggestion. They sent the file to mynumber@vzwpix.com, I received the message but instead it said "go to vzwpix.com to see your pic/sound" therefore I am assuming the Verizon is blocking access to attachment from my phone. Since you guys don't seem to have this problem and I just received my phone 2 days ago it seems like Verizon is now limiting new phones so that we cannot open attachments sent by anyone other than Verizon itself, which pi**es me off deeply. I also had mobile17 send the file as an attachment in a regular sms text message but the attachment got removed.
The option "Save as ringtone" does not exist in my phone menu.
I guess now I have to find a way to enable my phone to receive the attachments. Any idea?
