LG VX8300 Tutorial for Newbies

I enabled the phone for MP3's as explained here, then I installed the Verizon Vcast software with Windows Media Player on my PC. Everything went well until I synched the phone to my music, when WMP converted all my MP3's to WMA's before transferring them, so now I can't control playback with the front buttons. I don't want ring tones, just songs I can listen to. I would rather not revert the phone back to the way it was, so is there a way to transfer the MP3's without having WMP convert them to WMA's?
By the way, the songs do sound great anyway as WMA's on a good set of headphones (I agree the ones in the music extras pack are too big).

OK. I figured out how to open the memory card directly and transfer MP3's directly onto it without using WMP, so you can disregard the last post, but like other people here, the songs transfer fine, but then they vanish when I disconnect the phone. I don't
seem to have a my_MP3 folder on the card (I did all the MP3 enabling steps), and I even reformatted the SD card. Is the lack of the my_MP3 folder the problem, and if so, how do I create the folder? Windows explorer won't let me do it when I am in the memory card--there is no "new folder" option.

Sorry for this third post, but I just figured it out and I think it might help other people who could not transfer mp3's. What I did is take the SD card out of the phone, and put it into a card reader attached to my PC. Then I was able to access the card directly, and there was the my_mp3 file. I transferred mp3's directly to that file, then put the card back in the phone, and voila..
Not only are all the songs in the my mp3 file on my phone, but a really cool equalizer showed up on the screen as the song was playing.

I'm about to buy the phone! After reading all these wonderful posts. I love the comlexity. I am more or less interested in watching movie files on it. I can't wait to try everything.

Will the movies play on the front screen when I close it?

I'm still having no luch locating QPST, any suggestions?

hi i got my phone on monday.. and yea i was trying to put som mp3 on my phone and make them as my ringtone.
so i follwed the steps wid enabling mp3s on my phone and such
i also got audacity and makin my mp3 then i tried to email it to my phone but it didn't work.
and i also tried sending email from my phone to my email then reply it wid attatchments.. but it still didn't work..
eh.. i don't know wut to do
wut should i do??
and i also tried bluetooth wid my friends.. they hab t-mobile
and i have verizon and it says change the status of receiving bluetooth
so they couldn't send their songs to me..
how can i put som songs on my phone!!!???
oh yea and i don't hab a memory card

So I bought two 8300s, one for myself and one for my bf. I put ringtones and mp3s on his already. I moved onto mine and the situation is a little different. I have experience with LGs, I had the 8100 and 6100 and so on. I know what to do with the mp3s and ringtones already but my problem is that it seems as if my memory card keeps formatting on its own. I use BitPim and the ringtones won't seem to stick with my phone. One ringtone will be sent to the phone but the others wont. So I had mp3s on it as well, I woke up this morning and they're miraculously gone as well as the one ringtone that made it onto the phone. I have a 1gig MicroSD card. Anybody else have this problem? Or a solution?

I just got my music kit and my phone does not recognize the cable I don't know what to do I got another cable and still doesn't work. I want my MP3 player to work please help me

Does anyone know the procedure for transferring photos from PC to 8300? I have the data cable and sync software from Verizon. I tried syncing photos in Media Player 10 but no dice.

Is it possible to type an underscore _ on the vx8300? specifically i have an underscore in some web site usernames. I can't log in without it.
