I just got the 8300 after havinf a razr for about a year. On the razr, you could take off the back cover and have access to the sim card. Is this possible with the LG phones? I have both an 8300 and a 5300 and I don't see the sim card on either.
As you look at the phone it is on the right hand side. A small plastic cover is over it. I just traded in my Razer that was giving me fits and now have the 8300 I love it!!

Can anyone help me find a way to keep my phone from changing the time every time I cross my living room? I live right on the border of Indiana and Illinois and never knwo for sure what time I am on.
javascript:emoticon('')
Sad
I tried setting up dual time and setting one for Washington DC but it also changes occasionally.
My old Motorola had a feature to keep it from adjusting hte time to the tower but I have not found it on my 8300
Thanks

I believe ddressler mistook the microSD card slot for the sim card. The nice people at Verizon informed me that all of the new phones do not actually use sim cards, so that might be why pangderx couldn't find it.

Actually I think the orginal question was actually poster meant to type micro sd card and not the sim card. My razor also had a slot for the micro card in back of the battery.

Hey everyone! I just got my phone yesterday and I have been trying so hard to get ringtones since the phone only comes with like 15 or so.
I read through all the posts and found them motivating.
Except now I need help.
I downloaded and installed Audacity and selected the portion of my mp3 that I wanted.
I tried to export selection as mp3 and it didn't work.
SO, i downloaded LAME and it won't install. I tried opening it and it wouldn't open.
SO, I downloaded the trial version of winzip and tried to unzip it. I must be doing something wrong, because when I "unzip it" it just opens up a list of all the things in LAME but there isn't an installation button.
Please help!
Is this a lost cause for a girl who's obviously computer illeterate????
Thanks so much!

I'm considering buying the VX8300 and have read The Rever's tutorial (excellent compilation job, thank you). I'm having 2 problems related to Audacity:
First: I downloaded Audacity (I'm on a Mac) and opened a music file in m4p format. It doesn't read the file correctly. When I hit the play button, the cursor doesn't move. I tried an mp3 to see if I was doing it correctly, and that worked. I tried changing the extension of an m4p to an mp3, and it doesn't recognize it. How can I convert an m4p to an mp3 so it will work with Audacity?
Second: I'm unable to "export selection to mp3" because it looks for LAME, which I downloaded, but it is compressed and I can't get it to unstuff. I use Stuffit Deluxe, and I downloaded the 8.0 upgrade, but it is looking for a registration number before I upgrade, but when I try opening my old Stuffit Deluxe (opens in Classic mode) to get the registration for the upgrade, it just keeps quitting and won't open. I'm on Mac OSX ver. 10.2.8. Is there any way around this??? PLEASE HELP!
Thanks.

Update: I was able to get LameLib to unstuff, created a 312K mp3 in Audacity and sent it to tendigitcell@vzwpix.com. It receives, but when it tries saving, after about 45 secs, I get a message that it can't be saved. First, why are we sending it as a picture when it's a music file? Second, does this not work on older LG phones? Mine's about 2 yrs. old. Is that why I can't get it to work and that the VX8300 is newer and can handle the transfer? Our 2-yr. contract was up last month, but before we get new phones, probably the 8300, I wanted to make sure I can work out some of the mp3 issues in advance. Other than not being able to save the mp3 to my older LG, I still need to know how to convert my m4ps to mp3s. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

You should not have to install Lamelib in the classic sense of clicking on it and loading it into particular file. Once it's on your computer it will run "in the background," or invisibly. In other words, do all your work in Audacity and when it comes time to save and export, Audacity will be assisted by Lamelib in the process. You'll never see it happen, but it will work.
Groovy?
