You'll need to leave the microSD in the telephone in order to play all of your music. There just is not enough internal memory on the vx8300 hundred to hold lots of music, pictures and videos.

I got my 8300 and the data cable and QPST is all set but do I need to install any drivers for the phone? If so which one?

I'm an Hewlett Packard Rep and one of the sales guys asked me a good question today:
HP has several printers that are Bluetooth capable -- Can you print directly from a Bluetooth phone?
I tried and was able to get the printer and my 8300 to pair, and I was able to print my contacts (Just told it to send to the Bluetooth device), but I can't find any way to send a picture to a bluetooth device. It will let me send to a contact or to a group, but not a device.
Is it possible to make the printer bluetooth profile into a contact? Any other ways it might be done? How about the famous "Menu 00000"?
Thanks in advance!!!!

Okay. I've been reading these posts most of the night and have been tryiing the suggestions and nothing seems to be working for me. Here is the situation:
1. I am a Mac user.
2. I edited a ringtone in Soundtrack Pro then imported it into iTunes and converted it to an MP3.
3. I then synced my 8300 with my Mac through bluetooth and tried to send the file. "message that the phone would not except this type of file"
4. I then tried to email the mp3 and kept getting the emails kicked back to me "message wap encoding error".
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks

I, too, am a Mac man.
Did you read the beginning of this thread? I got frustrated attempting to use the great software which comes with Mac and finally found that Audacity and Lamelib work most easily. I don't like having to download something else when what I have is so good, but that's what I found.
The phone's software seems a bit touchy on mp3s, as well, though I understand there is a firmware update which addresses this problem. Most stores don't yet have it, but if you do a search, you'll find it.
Being somewhat of a newbie, I've been cobbling together some helps and shortcuts for this great cell phone.
I will post them here and I encourage others to add theirs in subsequent posts. Then in a week or so we can put them all together and make a great and quick read for the phone and maybe help some people just getting it.
What do you think?
Step by step to enable mp3: Two part process.
To enable outside phone buttons to play mp3:
From main screen press OK and then the number 0 seven times (you’ll see a series of question marks disappear). Then scroll all the way down and press #11 (Music Setting). Finally, choose My mp3.
To get MP3s to play, including ringtones – Press OK (Menu) and go to Settings and Tools, press 5 (phone settings), press 2 (shortcut key), press 5 (play key), and choose my mp3s.
To make ringtones:
I found a program to easily make ringtones, Audacity, which is compatible for both Mac and Windows. And it's small and free.
It works beautifully. It's also pretty easy to learn and use.
Here's a step-by-step to make ringtones for your 8300:
I drag the song to my desktop, open Audacity and choose File and Open, and select the song (I have the song file in AIFF). I then use the selection tool (top left corner, looks like a capital "I") to select the portion of the song I want, or I put the cursor where I want the portion to end and go to Edit, Select, and choose one of the options. I then go to File and Export Selection As MP3. I save it to my desktop. (By the way, I often increase the volume of these ringtones. Find the slider next to the small speaker emblem at the top left and move it to the right. I set them to 6 or 7, depending upon the original audio quality.)
I then open my email program (Entourage - Mac) and attach the file and send it to my tendigitcellnumber@vzwpix.com
Remember to keep the file size to less than 350kb. When it arrives to your phone, open it and it will begin playing. Choose Options (right softkey) and save it.
Oh, and unless you have one of those text messaging deals with Verizon, I think sending them costs .25 or something.
Talking Ringtones:
When receiving a call, you can enable your 8300 to first announce who it is that’s calling (if you have their information in your phone) and then to play the assigned ring tone.
Do the following:
Press OK (Menu), and go to SETTINGS & TOOLS. Press #2 (Tools), and then press #1 (Voice Commands). Then on the right softkey, chose Settings, and press 5. (Call Alert). Finally, choose Name + Ring
Ear Piece Volume changes:
For those experiencing earpiece volume issues, the 8300 is set to Voice Privacy, a feature which decreases the volume when you move your ear away from the phone. Intended to keep those near you from listening to the other person on your phone, you may want to play with this feature to optimize your call quality.
Press OK (Menu) and go to SETTINGS & TOOLS. Next, press #6 (Call Settings), and then press #5 (Voice Privacy). Choose "Off."
How to assign ringtones, remove ringtones, etc.
Press OK (Menu), and go to GET IT NOW. Choose #1 (Get Tunes & Tones), and press #3 (My Ringtones). Scroll to your ringtones and to erase one, press the right softkey (Options). To set a ringtone as someone’s ringtone, press the left softkey (Set As). You may select either of three choices: Ringtone (your phone will play this when receiving a call unless you’ve chosen a specific ringer for a person), Contact ID (from here you may assign specific tones for specific people in your address book), and Alert Sounds (you may choose a ringtone for specific alerts).
How to record a voice memo (& make it a ringtone), &/or record a conversation:
With the phone open, push in the button on the left side for voice commands and hold it for a few seconds. You will see Press OK to start recording. When done, press OK to end the recording. MY SOUNDS screen comes up and what you’ve just recorded appears as a jumbled series of numbers, right under #1 Record New. Scroll to it and you may choose Options (right softkey) and rename it, &/or send it to your cell number. When your phone receives it, follow the usual method of saving it as a ringtone.
When looking for your recording, you will find it by pressing OK (Menu), going to GET IT NOW, choosing #1 (Get Tunes & Tones), and by choosing #5 (My Sounds). And there it is.
You can also do this while on the telephone, but it only picks up the person on the other end.
How to turn on the flash:
When you open the phone, press the camera key on the right side. On the screen, you will see a Lightning Bolt on the bottom left. If it is grayed-out, the flash is off. If it is yellow, the flash is on. Right under the volume buttons there is a Flash Button on the left site. If you press it, the lightning bolt should turn to yellow. The flash is now on.
How to use the 4x digital zoom on VX8300:
The 8300 has a 4X zoom which can be used with still or video. To use it with still photography, the resolution must first be reduced below 1280X960. Why that is I can’t say. But once you bump it down, you can zoom. You may zoom while in still or video mode by pressing the right or left buttons on the center wheel.
That's it from me. Comments? Additions?

Recently purchased a used X8300 but the camera function has been blocked out. According to the seller his employer did not want it used. How can I re-enable the camera function? Not much of a user of cellphones so this is something real new to me

I am new to the 8300, I have had it for a week. I love the phone but I have 2 questions.
The font size is small, it is very difficult to see the name of the caller or the name of the person we are calling, especially outside during the day. I know you can adjust to large fonts, but that only adjusts the font size for the numbers at the botton of the screen, not the name ID at the top, the picture you can associate with the number or the phonebook, etc.. Does anyone know of any way to make the fonts larger? I wrote to LG and they said this is controlled by Verizon, Verizon says it is controlled by LG.
The other issue is that when the phone is charging, there is no indication that the phone is charged unless you press a button or open the phone. A lot of pacing back and forth. I don't recall a phone or other charged device that does not show when the charging has been completed.

I cannot help you regarding your first question, but I can speak to the second. There is no indication that the phone is done charging. However, when charging is complete it switches off the charging feature automatically. You may leave it on the charger all night with no worries...

hi to all, i'm looking to buy a micro sd card for my 8300 and know from reading posts how to enable mp3. 1 question i have is.. will i be able to simply put a mp3 clip ( 300 kb or less) on the phone and set that as a ringtone? if so what folder should that go under? my mp3 or another? not sure how bitpim works or anything like that so i'm not too prepared for doing all fancy things. however i do have audacity and lame.dll. any help would be great. and i would apreciate as much detail as possible. since i'm still stuck in the 80's and miss the days of atari 2600. thanks.
