First, i wanted to say thank you to all those busy posting replys. You guys are great and a huge help. I've read through all 20 pages so as to try not to ask a redundant question and I never saw this covered. Please excuse me if it was.
Anyway, my questions are these.
1. I've emailed some MP3's to my phone with no problems (as long as they aren't too big) but when go to save them it only gives me the option to save them in the "MY SOUNDS" folder. I can play them but only from that folder. How to I save them in the "MY MP3'S" folder so I can play them from the front button of my phone? I've tried moving them and all I get is the no media card error.
2. What is the biggest MP3 I can email myself? I sent some and I get a download error saying the files is too big.
Thanks again,
David

I've only gotten through your opening post but my mind is completely blown. (I would have made this a PM but it seems to be disabled.)
I was definately going to return the LG to Verizon because I couldn't for the life of me find out how to make a voice note or interface it with my Mac, and no one in the store knew the answers, so I had to assume they were, among other things I couldn't make happen, not available.
I was sad. Now I'm happy. You the man.

hi to all, i'm looking to buy a micro sd card for my 8300 and know from reading posts how to enable mp3. 1 question i have is.. will i be able to simply put a mp3 clip ( 300 kb or less) on the phone and set that as a ringtone? if so what folder should that go under? my mp3 or another? not sure how bitpim works or anything like that so i'm not too prepared for doing all fancy things. however i do have audacity and lame.dll. any help would be great. and i would apreciate as much detail as possible. since i'm still stuck in the 80's and miss the days of atari 2600. thanks.
Sorry - nope. I believe that whatever is on the card stays on the card and cannot be used as a ringtone. I don't do the Bitpim thing and don't have a cable, so I just email the ringtones I make to my phone. Read the newbie post and you'll find how to do it.

Go to SETTINGS & TOOLS, and then to #8 (Memory), then select each of the three choices (PIX, FLIX and Sounds), choosing “Card Memory” at each opportunity. (Hit OK.)
This also gives you lots of room to make longer movies, etc. To set the phone to allow longer movies:
Open the movie (click the right side button twice with cover open) and select the right soft key to select options. Setting #3 (time limit) allows you to select "available memory" so you can use as much as 1gb of time, if needed.
As to your second question, nothing more than 350 kb. When it arrives to your phone, open it and it will begin playing. Choose Options (right softkey) and save it.

thanks, well at the very least i can preview my mp3 clip on my phone before i decide to send it via e-mail. just to make sure the volume is at the right level. thats right i'm too cheap to take a chance on a 25 cent pix message! i sent a clip to my phone before i got my memory card, i set the volume too low. i wish i could get my 25 cents back lol.
any suggestions on a good pair of headphones for this 8300 phone? thanks again.

I like the Jabra ones I bought from Verizon for the 8300. They come with several options to fit firmly and comfortably in the ear and sound quite good.

hey all, just wanted to say that all the information here has been extremely helpful to me. i just bought my LG VX8300 today and have been playing with it all day, i was wondering if anybody here could help me with a couple issues that i have with it.
first, when i send an mp3 file from my email to my phone, if it is any longer than about 10 seconds it is really bad quality. it is still under 350 kb but it sounds like crap. i sent a couple real short ones and they sound great. could anyone shed some light on that?
secondly, i havent purchased my microSD card yet, but when i do, can i take mp3s off of that and make them ringtones on my phone? if so, would that make them better quality?
thanks in advance

First, have you read the beginning of this thread for newbie helps and are you using the software listed there? It's very easy to use and will save you a world of headaches.
Second, I don't believe you can move music from your card and move it to the ringtone file.
