so i have the cable, bought the memory card and all. plugged it in followed the instructions and tryed to use WMP(windos media player) to sync it and to my luck it didnt work. I didnt wanna read all 27 pages to find my answer if there was one so im actually posting a question.

So it says theres an error and is unable to convert my mp3's from the PC to the phone. Is there any way i can do this? Ive tried a lot of stuff.. none which have worked.

Hey, this is my first time posting. I've read the thread from the beginning but I think I got some conflicting anwers to my questions.
I want go buy an sd card and reader today for my 8300. I have the mp3 enabled and have set the play key for my mp3s. Obviously when I hold the play key it says 'no songs found in memory.' Not surprising since I've yet to buy the card. I figure once I put a few songs on the card from my computer/card reader that I could put the card into the phone, click(holding) the button and I should see the equalizer/songs, etc and am set? Is this true? With this, I will not need the cable right?
Under what circumstances will I need the cable? I've read some stuff on here about BITPIM, when and why will I need that?
Also regarding ringtones, I assume I use some of the programs listed earlier in the thread and can cut a song to a specified length, put it on the card and it'll be there?
What is up with this 'emailing pictures/songs?', .25 cent for message? I think I might be confusing myeslf and some clarification will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for anyone's help!!

Hey, I went to look for the Micro SD Card at Staples today. I did not realize that I need an adapter? Can someone please explain this to me. Whenever I read any posts on this thread, no one ever mentioned anything about adapters. Can someone please post a link of the exact accessories that I'll need? Exact Micro SD Card (cheapest 1GB avail), Adapter if I really need it, and I guess USB cable for this phone, although I think I should be fine w/o the cable. I'll figure out the ringtones another time but for now I'd like to get some music on this piece! Thanks in advance!

Ankie000,

Not sure about all of your questions but I'll help where I can.
The micro SD card should come with an adapter to make it SD Ram size so that you can plug it into a card reader or printer, etc... I bought one at my local Wal-Mart in the digital camera department.

As for Ringtones and wallpapers, I have been using a site:
http://www.freeringers.net to send them to my phone. They have a lot of wallpapers and polyphonic ringtones. They have a tutorial on making your own Real Music Ringtones that is very easy to do.

The reason that I chose this particular site over others is that they charge you a one time membership of $8.00 for one year. No monthly charges and no automatic renewal. Other sites that I have seen want to charge you an ongoing $9.99 per month automatically billed to your wireless carrier.
Using this site will get you by without the cable. You may however, be billed by your wireless provider for each wallpaper or ringtone that you send to yourself via this or any other service.
Having the cable lets you put things on your phone without per item charges but you have to get the software to do it and play with it to learn to use it. The main piece of software that I have heard recommended it BitPim. I have tried it & been able to get a wallpaper onto my phone but not a ringtone yet.

Before you even have to ask, here is the websit that I was referred to to get BitPim: http://www.bitpim.org/

I have not tried it yet for music but from the things I have read and what I have seen in the BitPim software; it (BitPim) & a cable are what you would use to get music to your phone.

I hope this has been of some help to you. I know it's kinda confusing to start with. I just got my VX8300 also and was and am still confused about all this extra stuff that can be done with my cell phone.

Ankie000, here's what I did to get music on my vx8300. Instead of buying the cable package, etc., I went and bought a SanDisk microSD/TransFlash memory card (which comes with an adapter). Also purchased the SanDisk MobileMate Card Reader/Writer. After formating the memory card in my vx8300 and following the instructions, I was able to transfer music from Windows Media Player on my computer to my vx8300 by dragging and dropping. Simple as that. After you've downloaded the songs to your phone, you can set up playlists. Somewhere in this forum, I got instructions on how to do this.

Can't help you on the ringtones cause I have no interest in ringtones. Hope this is of help to you. icon_cool.gif

Thanatos - Thanks for your help. I'll def use that as a reference for ringtones!!!!

Duchess915 - I think I figure out how to use the equipment, just dont have it yet. That is the problem. How much does the card/adapter cost? I could get the mobilmate card reader, that looks like a flash/jump drive. But its the card/adapter I'm wondering about. I was/am interested in a 1GB card, not a 512. I was at Staples yesterday and the guy was telling me the 512PNY one comes an adapter but that was like 40 bucks. Is that the cost of what it would be? I was looking for Sandisk cuz everyone always mentions that. How much are Sandisk's 1GBs card/adapters? Thanks again... all your replies are a tremendous help!!!

Ankie000 . . . I paid $14.99 for my SanDisk512mb memory card and $14.99 for the Reader at Staples. I happen to have a few $3.00 rebates for returning used ink cartridges and ended up paying $5.99 for the Reader. I do believe the 1 gig memory cards are going for about $40.00. But they seem to be on sale each week at different stores. Check this Sundays papers.
