F.Y.I. Call Waiting is a feature that is free to Verizon Wireless customers. If you don't have it already on your phone, here's how to get it.
1. Go to Settings & Tools
2. Select "My Account" (FREE)
3. Then select #5 (My features)
Follow the instructions from there which will show you how to add or remove features from your cell phone.
I tried that. It asks for my zip code, and then tells me that my balance and account features are not available on the hand set. Does anyone know what that means? BTW, my hubby and I both got these phones, and call waiting on his phone works. But mine goes straight to voice mail.
After you select #5 (My features) and put in your zip code and press Done, you should be prompted to enter the last four numbers of the primary account holder's social sec. #. Then you arrow down to "OK" and press select. This should take you to the "Add/Remove Feature"

I've read through this post and nothing seems to work for me. I just got a vx8300 with version 3. I cannot play mp3's! I formated a sd card with the phone, then put it in a card reader. I can put the mp3's in the my music folder then put it back in the phone press play and I get PLAYER ERROR Music is not available. I can see the songs when I go the memory card, but they will not play. Do I need to have headphones to get it to play?

Do you have any help for people with the 8500? I recently got one and don't know too much about it, can you help and/or find someone that can. Thank you very much.

As far as I can tell, the flash only works when you take pictures. You do have the option of adjusting the brightness when taking videos.

Found my mistake. My mp3's would not play because the file name was too long. Works great now!

anyone tried using the 8300 with the tomtom GO 510 gps? I've tried to set it up to get traffic updates and it can't seem to find my phone's data info. it works great as a simple "hands-free" device via bluetooth. thanks.

Ok, i've now ready all 33 pages and can't find the answer to my problem. Yesterday, December 20, i updgraded my 8100 to the 8300 since the front keys on my 8100 stopped working. My brother also has the 8300 so i played with it before i made this decision. But on my phone, i can't enable the mp3 player.
I ALREADY went to Menu, o, hit 00000, and then went to option 11 and it says, "NOT AVAILABLE" What do i do now? how am i able to play MP3s on my new phone.
Also, is there anyway at all to be able to read text messages on the front screen? Why would Verizon disable that awesome feature.
Right now i want my old 8100 back. Any reason why i shouldn't do that
I read the entire thread and I was suprised to find this being the only reference to reading txt messages on the front screen. The LG VX8100 had the functionality to view incoming messages on the front display. I was hoping to find a secret work around for this with my new phone. Anything would be good.

I was looking for similar information about being able to read text messages from the front display. Any insight to a workaround for this would be amazing.

"Did you do BOTH things needed to enable mp3s? I've included it below.
Step by step to enable mp3: Two part process.
To enable outside phone buttons to play mp3:
From main screen press OK and then the number 0 seven times (you’ll see a series of question marks disappear). Then scroll all the way down and press #11 (Music Setting). Finally, choose My mp3.
To get MP3s to play, including ringtones – Press OK (Menu) and go to Settings and Tools, press 5 (phone settings), press 2 (shortcut key), press 5 (play key), and choose my mp3s. "
This is what one of the posts had. I went to option 11 of the first "to Do" and verizon has shut if off. I have seen that Verizon is now not allowing anyone to use MP3. that you have to use your format.
I get the feeling that verizon is trying to nickel and dime me for everthing. you want this. sure. it will cost you. you want that. it is not available unless you pay. am I the only one that feels this way about verizon. so, how do I record a ring tone and then use it.
