I have a question, is this the same for the LG VX8500s? i tried to press the menu then press all zeros for the password thing, but there was no "music settings" on that list. how could i do the same thing for my chocolate?

I just bought a 2 GB Micro SD card and found that the software version 1 does not support a card more than 1 GB. I went to a Verizon store today and upgraded to the latest version (3) for free. I tried the method mentioned before about entering 0 in the main menu and six more 0's, and then enabling MP3's in the music settings. It does say NOT AVAILABLE. Don't worry. When you format(ed) your card in your phone, it puts a "my music" folder on the card (for V-cast music). Put your MP3's in that folder and it works, at least for me, with the front buttons and V-cast library (menu > Get it Now > get tunes and tones > my music). It seems that with the new software version you may put your MP3's together in the same folder as any V-cast music you may buy.
I hope this works for you!

Go to Menu > Settings and Tools > 9. Phone Info > 2. SW Version
The first two lines show the version:
"SW Version
T83VZV03"
This is version 3. Version 1 will have a 1 on the end instead of the 3.
I bought my phone last September and it was version 1. Today, my local Verizon store loaded version 3. Since you already stated that the seven 0's and music settings mumbo jumbo said unavailable then you probably have version 3 already.
Make sure the store you go to for an upgrade has "technicians" working there. Mall kiosks and other sales locations like Circuit City and BJ's cannot flash the new software onto your phone. Also beware that it takes them about 20 minutes to do so.
Have at it.

I just got my 8300 the other day from Verizon. Nice phone, _except_ for the earpiece volume issues. In the middle of a call, the volume will ramp up and down, such that I can't hear the person on the other end of the conversation. I turned voice privacy feature off, the issue is still occurring. Any other solutions to this problem besides disabling voice privacy? If not, I'm thinking of heading back to the Verizon store tonight and exchanging the phone for one that works.

I just purched a MacBook (love it!), and am tweaking my LG per your guildlines. However, similar to pandora's box, what will happen if I send files larger than 350kb? Will my phone go defunct or will the file just lose sound quality? No doubt a stupid question, but there it is.
