Is there a way to play mp3 ringtones that I've saved onto the MicroSD card without e-mailing them to my phone or using a cord or Bluetooth?

Thanks for the help.

I don't believe so. Nope.

I have a Mac Mini, which doesn't have a flash card slot. Will I be able to d/l music mp3s from my Mac iTunes mp3 library to my MicroSD card, via a device like the Dazzle ZIO USB 2.0 High Speed Universal 10 in 1 Reader/Writer? If not, what are my other options?

I might have missed the answer I'm looking for; but, it seems as if the posts here concern ringtones, which are cool; but, I'm more interested in being able to listen to songs from my iTunes library.

This is a great forum! I just bought the phone yesterday. I've learned more from this forum than Verizon and the owner's maunal, combined!

Thanks!
Tom

My advice is to get a card reader for one of your USB ports. I bought the SanDisk MobileMate off Amazon.com. It's inexpensive and works like a charm...

By the way, here are a few more interesting tidbits for the VX8300.

You may use the camera and/or video without opening the phone.
With the phone closed, press and hold the camera button until you see the camera mode come on. You may take a picture (which the camera will automatically save to your MY PIX file), or you may hold the camera button down again, which will put it into video mode. It will save your video to the MY FLIX file.

Here's how to get pictures and/or video from your phone to your computer without using a cable or Bitpim:

As I do not have a cable or Bitpim, I send pictures and video from my phone to my email address, thereby getting them to my computer.

Go to GET IT NOW, Get PIX & FLIX, MY PIX (or MY FLIX, depending), select your picture, go to Options (right soft key), and choose 1. Send.

Enter your email address and send it.

Unless you have a messaging plan, it will cost you .25.

But as I mentioned in an earlier thread, the picture is a mirror image. It doesn't matter unless you have a very pronounced object on one side of your face that will then show up on the other side in the picture.

You can still take your own picture with the camera flipped open:

With the camera on, go to the options and select number 9 (hit the up key and you're right there since it's the last option). Turn this setting on and you can now see the viewfinder in the front window. It's still a mirror image. But if your taking pictures and suddenly decide to take a pic of you and a friend, for instance (or just yourself, whatever), you won't have to close the camera and bring the camera back up again. Six/half-dozen.

You have the same option for the video, but you have to set it seperately.

Also, set the night mode on (number eight) and this brightens up the picture a bit under dim lighting.

All those settings are interesting, actually. The color setting enables sepia, b&w, negative, solari, vivid or normal.

Hey everybody - I love this place! I would have been completely lost with my new phone if not for this site and all you great people helping each other out.

Anyway, I haven't plopped down the cash for a memory card yet, and I'm having problems getting MP3s to play after I upload them onto the phone with my cable from the vcast kit.

I have enabled mp3s both from secret menu, and with the softkey menu.

I am wondering if there's a special directory that I need to drop my Mp3s into?

I got impatient and started converting stuff to wma format, but I would rather keep them in mp3s. Can anyone help me with this?

Also, is there any way to upload a pic and have them come up when you play a certain song, just like the Vcast song downloads?

ANother thing - Verizon is being a beeyotch and made the little 1.5mm plug in such a way that no standard plug fits into it (from what I hear). Are there any adapters that will connect to 2.5mm and retain both channels?

Finally, my left ear is oddly shaped and the earpiece from the vcast stereo headphones won't fit well. It keeps falling out! I guess my earholes are assymmetrical...is there any download that'll fix this? Am I running on outdated drivers? Or should I just get plastic surgery?

Thanks in advance if you guys can offer any help...

It's not your ears. The earphones are definately very big for the average earholes. I've heard there is a converter for the plug, but haven't seen one in person. Something I read led me to believe that this is a bluetooth thing, but I'm not sure why that would have anything to do with it since bluetooth is wireless.

I've been having all kinds of problems with the music side of the phone. I'm sticking with my old player and using the cards I purchased (two at one gb each) for storing the pictures and transferring them to my computer so they won't be lost.

Tetris is fun to play on the phone, and the camera isn't a bad p&s when you're at the right place at the right time with just your camera phone, especially when trying to describe something to another pic phone user (though I stick to my pro camera for decent larger pictures). It's great as a phone. But the music isn't worth the time and money I put into it...especially with them holding back so they can sell their own music.

I've always been wary of jack-of-all-trades divices like scanner/printer/fax machines because typically they can't really be master of all...or any. I wish I had applied this belief to the phone before I purchased everything I did to accommodate the music. I simply wanted to replace my bulky cd/atrack/mp3 player when sitting and waiting for doctor appts. Unfortunately, the music just isn't the same and yes, the earphones hurt my ears too.

It is a good phone, though. They just need to stop selling it as a music player until they make it more user-friendly...not wallet-friendly on their end.

so finally got my phone to play mp3s... now the problem is, I've purchased the 1GB microSD and I definitely don't want all my files loose... is there no way to organize them/make playlists for your mp3s?

seperate note, for my wma music files I also don't seem to be able to create playlists... when I try to create one it says CREATE ERROR unable to create playlist. any idea why?

I had the same problem. I think the playlist is just for songs you download.

BitPim has a Playlist creator section. I haven't played with it much, but I assume it allows for mp3 playlists, judging by the rest of the program's features.
