I was in a movie theatre last night and realized that when I had a weak signal where it usually says cingular it said emergency only...should I worry about that or just go ahead and use it in those situations??

many movie theatres block cell reception. emergency calls only basically means you have no service and will not be able to place calls, except to 911.

did the reception come back after leaving the theatre?

that's what I thought steva if they pasivly block cell phone with construction. it's "legal" or so I've interpreted if they are activly blocking it with a device that's illegal..

well, in theatre's around here, they block cell reception inside so people won't bother other's during the movie. i'm not sure if it's done in other places, but it is here.

I thought the guy was from canada from the spelling of theatre, so i thought the situation may be similiar.

Well like I said you can't say anything if the cell phone reception is blocked by special construction that is what I'd do but they say it's bad practice to activly block cell phones(jammers etc) but it saying "emergency calls only" that's really cool actually very interesting wouldn't you say steva? maybe they have a thing that the actual cell phone companies set up to do that.. you know voluntary.. I doubt it tho.. still extremly interesting I want one that i can carry around to keep other's off their phones around. watch people get mad throw their pyhones on the groung. LOL.

I'm actually from minnesota and I made another trip to the movie theatre tonight...In this particular theatre although reception was weak it didn't say emergency only and I was able to make calls...I don't really know why it did that the night before

they may not block it intentionally, but it's probable just something in the structure of the building that's blocking reception.

i thought almost all americans spelt stuff -er at the end as opposed to -re icon_smile.gif
