Ok - so you're visiting and getting plain info is hard despite the forums. I also have a UK based mobile and brought a SIM free with me with the same questions. The lady in Vancouver has given you the most accurate advice so far re GSM networks and coverage. Unlike the UK, signals are NOT everywhere or ever-present so be warned. SIM cards are available from Rogers video/DVD stores also ($25) but you have to check things like roll-over minutes on PAYG and it seems very few problems will occur if buy an initial $100 card which is valid for 365days regardless. Rates are still difficult to 'tie-down' and roaming across to the US needs investigating. I am on the trail of tha as we speak and will update here when I can. When is your trip? I am in BC and you're gonna love it here - prepare to be busy, there is so much to do. Costs and service are far better than UK - oh that's right, you don't get 'service' in the UK. Have a great day.
Check out that 200 free minute deal - sounds good?
